A press release was posted today on the Libertarian Party website. The Libertarian Party asked today why President Obama signed the $490 billion stimulus bill, which contained around 8,500 earmarks. Here is an excerpt:
WASHINGTON – America’s third largest party asked Wednesday why President Obama enacted the $490 billion FY09 omnibus spending and its over 8,500 earmarks behind closed doors, and despite campaign promises to end earmark abuse.
“President Obama’s decision to hide from the media while signing this bill isn’t just a violation of his promise of transparency, it’s an attempt to avoid questions about breaking another promise to end earmark abuse,” said Libertarian National Committee Communications Director Donny Ferguson.

Actually. For the sake of honest debate, despite the disappointments of the Obama administrations first few months, I think the party of maturity and common sense should avoid hyperbolic pitfalls. It was candidate McCain who boldly promised to end earmarks. Since 2006, they have gone down dramatically. Are we still wasteful? Yes. But lets keep are heads about us. The end game of Obama policy if it works brings us closer to being taken seriously as a party if we avoid the pitfalls that too eager Dems and non-logical reactionary, unable to govern Republicans. If we win seats, we need to be aware of how to govern. We need to be aware of the advantages of the market and its limitations and come up with solutions that use as little government as possible. Eyes on the prize people. Don’t get stuck in talk radio pundit mental traps. We’re the smart kids. Remember?

Marge/Brittanicus doesn’t like Obama for being “anti-capitalist” while at the same time Marge/Brittanicus supports a fascist program like E-verify, spouts national socialist lines like “We also have the private sector to contend with as they put profit over our national security and unity as a nation” (as they should, and bravo for them!)
Granted, there are plenty of reasons to oppose Obama. This is not one of them.
Obama has broken every promise. Most disturbing is that he lies boldly and with self-confidence displaying how naive and inexperienced he is in politics. Besides begin anti-capitalist, he is overtly supporting illegal aliens with his private meetings of reassurance to “the Hispanic Caucus” and overt removal of E-verify requirements from all legislation put forth by the democrats. When will American citizens take to the streets and demand accountability? We also have the private sector to contend with as they put profit over our national security and unity as a nation:

And how about the following more subtly broken promise of “open and transparent government”?:
For the first month of his change.gov website, questions about whether he was going to respect freedom and legalize marijuana were ranked as #1 in importance by the viewers. (Presumably, many of his constituents!)
First, Tim Kaine responded via video reply with answers to the low-ranked softball questions only. (Ie: “What will you do to reach out to Republicans?”)
One week later the offical Change.gov questions site addressed the marijuana question in text, with a CAMPAIGN TRAIL RESPONSE FROM OBAMA! What did they say?:
Obama responds: “I’m not interested in legalizing marijuana.”
What a miserable bastard! Nevermind that the drug war is racist to the core, was created for racist reasons, and that he ran on a message of “hope and change”. As far as Obama is concerned, his government can keep on puttin’ them poor negroes in jail (so they won’t sleep with white women)!
And now that we’ve exported Harry Anslinger’s hatred of property rights and freedom to the entire civilization, that goes for anyone else who dares to live free and seek a high in something a little less deadly than alcohol.
