INDY CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNOR PROPOSES CASINOS FOR CATSKILLS
“New York Casinos would generate $700 million a year in new revenue” says Davis
Kristin Davis, the former Manhattan Madam now running for Governor of New York on a libertarian agenda today added a proposal for Casino Gambling in the Catskills to her platform. Davis proposed that the state license four casino resorts in the Catskills region which she said could generate as much as $4 Billion a year in revenues with the state capturing at least $700 million a year.
“New York is losing $8M in gambling revenue every year to New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania said Davis, a former hedge fund vice president who later opened the most sucessful escort service in U.S. history before pleading guilty to promoting prostitution in the Eliot Spitzer scandal ” It’s time to keep most of that money in New York to help balance our budget and create jobs”
“Four facilities in the Catskills, assuming slot and table gaming, could produce almost $4 billion in income if developed with comprehensive resorts with hotel facilities” said Davis ” At least 25% of the revenue will originate from out of state, possibly as much as 33%” Davis said her proposal called for at least 12,000 slots and 250 tables to be installed and predicted the win per gaming position will exceed $250 per day.
“New York needs a gaming tax that generates state revenue, yet enables operators to continually engage in capital improvements. The rate should be between 30 and 35%. Within 5 years the State will receive in excess of $750M in gaming taxes and an additional $65-70M ancillary taxes per year” said Davis who supports the legalization, regulation and taxation of marijuana and Gay marriage as part of her libertarian agenda for New York.
“My proposal will create 20,000 construction jobs with over $700M in payroll” said Davis who will gather 15,000 signatures in July to place her independent candidacy on the ballot ” Not to mention 12,000-16,000 permanent jobs will earn over $500M per year” she said.
The front page of Davis for Governor has a new description, which removes the reference to a “personal freedom party” which appeared there in the past:
Kristin Davis is the only real candidate for Governor who isn’t part of our current dysfunction political system. In fact, Kristin Davis is the victim of the ruthless and corrupt politics of New York State which has led to the complete mismanagement of state government giving us the highest taxes, the most ridiculous wasteful spending and the total collapse of economic opportunity for New Yorkers. Kristin Davis is ready to challenge the political elites and enact a series of reforms that will put the Empire State back on its feet.
After she was released from Riker’s Island, Kristin Davis told the Daily Caller she discovered she was a Libertarian. "When I got out of jail I was broke, the government confiscated all of my money, I was unemployable because of the stigma prostitution has for women in the business but not men, and I was appalled after seeing both the criminal justice and corrections system up close" said Davis. "I began reading Goldwater, Hayek, Von Mises, Freedman and Ayn Rand." Davis decided that the best way to promote a pro-legalize prostitution and legalize Marijuana agenda was not by lobbying gutless and corrupt politicians who would never listen but by running for Governor to put these issues before New York voters.
Kristin Davis believes that with legalized Marijuana on the ballot in California this November New York State must be next. A strong showing for pro-marijuana candidate Kristin Davis will send the weak kneed politicians in Albany a clear message- Marijuana is a $10 Billion a year business in New York today and should be legalized, regulated and taxed to create new revenues instead of raising taxes even higher on the working people of New York State.
Kristin Davis needs 15,000 signatures to get her PRO-MARIJUANA, PRO-FREEDOM party on the ballot. That means we must collect 45,000 signatures because the Republican and Democrat parties are certain to try to knock Kristin Davis and her running mates off the ballot. HERE IS KRISTIN DAVIS’S COMMON SENSE PLATFORM FOR NEW YORK STATE:
Note: the links at the original do not point to IPR, but rather to the Davis 2010 homepage. I haven’t figured out how to fix the code, but other IPR writers are welcome to do so.
Meanwhile, at Ballot Access News,
Kristin Davis plans to appear on the ballot in November 2010 as the gubernatorial nominee of the Free Libertarian Party. Warren Redlich plans to appear on that same ballot as the gubernatorial nominee of the Libertarian Party.
New York law permits two different parties to each use the same word in their names. For example, during the 1960’s and 1970’s, both the Socialist Labor Party, and the Socialist Workers Party, regularly appeared on the New York statewide ballot.
In IPR comments on a previous post, IPR writer and New York based independent/alternative party activist Kimberly Wilder counters,
The point is that NY law alludes to “voter confusion” if there are two sets of petitions with similar names filed.
And, the problem is that the BOE and/or the courts wind up ruling on if the two names are confusing.
The BAN post goes on to say,
Davis has received extra publicity recently because she appears in the new film, “Sex and the City 2.”
Actually, a completely unrelated Kristin Davis stars in the “Sex and City” TV series and films. A quick glance at the wikipedia page for the current film showed no evidence that the Kristin Davis who is running for Governor is in the film, although it is possible that I missed something.
Note that the recently revised description quoted above does not say what the name of Davis’ new party will be, unless it is “pro-marijuana, pro-freedom.”
