Michael Peroutka Presents Courage of Daniel Award to Judge Roy Moore

On June 3, 2011, the Institute on the Constitution(IOTC) awarded Roy Moore, former Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court and the current President of the Foundation for Moral Law, the “Courage of Daniel Award.” After Judge Moore addressed attendants of the IOTC’s “First Friday” lecture, IOTC co-founder Michael Peroutka presented the award to him “for choosing to obey God, and acknowledging Him both in word and in deed, regardless of the consequences; who like Daniel resisted a government which thought it was God.”

Peroutka was the 2004 Presidential Nominee of the Constitution Party.

This is a bit dated, but I just got the e-mail today.

Moore is exploring a potential Republican primary bid, but there has been substantial speculation that Moore really has his eye on the CP nomination. While Peroutka is no longer affiliated with the CP, this might contribute further to that speculation.

  2. NewFederalist

Where is the speculation about a potential interest in the CP nomination coming from, Red? I thought the CP NatCom has asked Virgil Goode to consider running as their nominee.

NF, when the Roy Moore exploratory committee was first announced, that he planned to ultimately seek the CP nomination was frequently suggested. See my post on his announcement here.

Also, some of this is from my personal communications. FTR, not with any official CP people who might know but just with fellow interested people who follow such things.

  5. RedPhillips Post author

Also NF, I expressed some reservations about the NatCom asking Goode to run at the time. While asking him to run is potentially harmless, it could give the appearance of favoritism. CP officials should be very careful about not seeming to support one candidate over the other.

Ya think? I cannot imagine what a furor it would cause if the LNC asked Wayne Root to consider being their nominee!

Thank you Judge Moore for damaging my spirituality with your religiosity ……….

Individuals may be religious, OUR secular government, which protects almost all beliefs, is not like Norway and Britain.

Thanks for every thing CP, no wonder thinking folks are running the other way!

Are non Christians allowed in the hypocritical fakey dakey (so called) Constitution Party? And what kind of Christians? LDS? Reform LDS? Christian Science? Methodists? Scientology? Quakers? Purtitans? (whom, like my self, do not celebrate Christ Mass!) ……..

  8. Trent Hill

I imagine Moore will finally run CP this time. He and Goode will likely tag-team in some form or fashion.

Lake – Since our nation, and the Constitution itself, was founded on Christian principles then Christians are certainly welcome. Liars like yourself are not welcome. Go spread your plague of corruption somewhere else like with your friends of the corruption faction of the AIP. The Constitution Party, unlike others, does have standards.

Roy had is chance long ago to run with us and he screwed it up.

He doesn’t have the chance now; I and many others will not support his nomination, period.

I’ll support Goode over Moore at the National Convention, unless someone better comes along. Obviously Moore is still too friendly with Peroutka- an anti-Mormon bigot and “Christian Reconstructionist” that tried getting the IAP kicked out back in 06′ and sought to turn the CP into a theocratic party.

  12. Trent Hill

Cody, I think you severely over-estimate how many people will oppose Moore. In a contest of him versus Goode–I suspect Moore will win.

  13. Daniel Surman

Moore’s campaign for the GOP nomination already dried up; most of those who were helping with his campaign abandoned it a few weeks back due to his inability to fundraise. That probablywould make a jump to the CP nomination more compelling.

  14. wolfefan

Did someone threaten to throw Moore into a den of lions or a fiery furnace? It’s kind of appalling to me that getting a modicum of fame and a mildly lucrative career as a speaker and having people tout you as a Presidential candidate is compared to what Daniel suffered.

  15. RedPhillips Post author

Cody, people’s theological beliefs do not make them a “bigot.” We should be careful not to fall into that PC trap. The Cultural Marxist would love for us to believe that any “exclusivist” and non-pluralistic theological beliefs constitute impermissible wrongthink, but God is under no obligation to be PC and our goal should be trying our best to figure out what God wants us to believe, not avoiding the condemnation of the PC thought police.

The issue is not whether Peroutka’s beliefs make him a nasty word. The issue is whether or not Peroutka’s beliefs are theologically correct.

If the idea that one’s religion is actually correct and not just one of many paths to God is “bigoted,” then isn’t sending out missionaries to convert people an inherently bigoted act?

  16. C James Madison

The Constitution Party needs to be a a big tent party when it comes to religious preferences (unless it contradicts constitutional rights, as many would point out with Sharia Law). The CP should welcome all that wish to support candidates who support the Constitution, which exists to codify our liberties. Arguments or debates about spirituality should be more focused on an individual friend/acquaintance level, not at a political entity level.
Regarding the main story and the subsequent commentary, I think the more “big name” candidates who run for the CST nomination, the better. If Moore does not have a chance at the nomination, perhaps going on a speaking tour and building membership and gaining ballot access would be a great cause. It would also ingratiate himself to any CP member who wondered about his loyalty…

  17. FAN of Dr. STAN

Facts are both Moore and Goode need to enter the NH R Primary immediately and build name ID and a grassroots following nationally. After that fails turn to the CP with the name ID and support !

The CP needs major help/work on Ballot Access if they are to be a player in ’12 ! The magic # is 270 EC votes to win. If you don’t have access in enough states to reach 270 you lose almost any credibility as a possible factor in the race. I think the CP sets at 130 today. They have never failed to qualify for less than 300 plus votes in EC states since the initial 1992 election.

The CP needs to pull major numbers of Conservatives from the RP especially in the south to help build on their record numbers in 2008. Hence Goode, VA or Moore, AL may just be what the Party needs this time.

Constitution Party needs to be a a big tent party

[Lake: could it be that merely dropping the religiosity and then concentrating on moral principals in a secular way would be key ?????????? I am not the only person to point out on going hypocrisy in the national (so called) CP and the previous (so called) US Taxpayers Party!]

[Lake: since “Christians are certainly welcome” and so Space Cadet Cody Banks Quirk has had no gripe, any where, ever ??????????]

[Lake: the nation was founded on Christian principals ????????????? Especially by the prechristain Norse (1000 AD) and more native peoples all over the 13 /48 /50 states ……….]

” I am not the only person to point out on going hypocrisy in the national (so called) CP and the previous (so called) US Taxpayers Party!]”

Response – Lake – A) There is no ” hypocrisy ” in the national CP. B) For you, an outright and totally unrepentant serial liar, to talk about ” hypocrisy ” is a total joke. C) It is your criminal friends ( Robinson, Seidenberg, Noonan ) who are the tip of the anti-American iceberg that attacked the CP. You are simply a lap dog of their gang.

Don J. Grundmann, D.C. Chairman American Independent Party, California branch of the Constitution Party

  21. Don Grundmann

” concentrating on moral principals ”

Response – Lake – I forgot to mention the even bigger joke of you, of all people, referring to ” moral principles ” of which you have continuously demonstrated that you have ZERO. You, as with your criminal friends, attack the CP while yourself being both moral and literal criminals of the highest/worst degree.

Don J. Grundmann, D.C. Chairman American Independent Party, California branch of the Constitution Party

  22. Cody Quirk

Cody, I think you severely over-estimate how many people will oppose Moore. In a contest of him versus Goode–I suspect Moore will win.

= No he won’t. And I’ll be willing to educate other members of the Party about what took place several years ago over the Nevada IAP and the Pro-Life issue, and the fact that Roy Moore’s friendship with this troublemaker is a big red flag in itself.

Red, how long have you been in the CP? Do you know anything about the political damage and division that Peroutka and his bigoted associates nearly caused to the CP?

I could care less about what people’s religious views are, however I problem I had was that Peroutka, John Lofton, and the others didn’t just have troubling personal views- but a whole political agenda that was extreme and anti-Constitutionalist AND they tried to force those views/agenda upon the Party.

If it wasn’t for Bill Shearer, Janine Hansen, and others, they would’ve taken over and screwed up everything.

  23. Cody Quirk

DL, you can’t even spell ‘Arizona’.
Good luck at being taken seriously.

  24. RedPhillips Post author

“Red, how long have you been in the CP?”

Cody, I’m not technically “in” the CP at present, but I have followed the CP pretty closely since it first started in 1992, and I am pretty aware of the internal politics. I am very aware of the Nevada IAP disaffiliation issue.

BTW, I think Don misspelled Arizona on purpose. He called it Arid zona, a reference the lack of rain.

  25. Cody Quirk

So you’re aware of Peroutka’s active involvement with the failed Nevada disaffiliation movement?

  26. RedPhillips Post author

Of course I’m aware of it.

I really don’t want to get into that mess again. My point was that it is utilizing the language of the PC enemy to describe theological beliefs as bigotry. Peroutka is not an “anti-Mormon bigot.” He is an orthodox (small o) Christian who thinks Mormons are wrong. There is a big difference unless you want to require that theological beliefs conform themselves first to the dictates of the PC thought police.

I’m no expert on Mormon theology, but clearly Mormons think they are right and orthodox Christians (of which Peroutka is a particular type) are wrong. Does this make them bigots? Of course not. It is silly and harmful to frame the issue in that way.

You like the unfactual blunders of Sara and Michelle ——— you’ll love Cody and Don and Chelene! Sandy Ego, Nude Mexico, and Arid Zona go back at least to the 1960s. Schwarzenegger has mentioned ‘Cali Fornia’ at least a dozen times since 2003. Cody is pick, pick, pick, like the common school yard bully that he is. The Maroon!]

  28. Mark Seidenberg

    People,

Don Grundmann is nothing in the American Independent Party of California. His last day
on the State Central Committee was September
2, 2008. He was remove as an Area Director
of the AIP by State Chairman, Edward Noonan
    early in 2008.

He hold no office in the Alameda County
Central Committee of the AIP. That can be
confirmed by contacting the AIP Chairman
for Alameda County, CA, viz,. Patrick Coglazier.

I have been the Vice Chairman of the American
Independent Party, since Sepember 3, 2006.

    Sincerely, Mark Seidenberg, Vice Chairman,
    American Independent Party

  29. Don Grundmann

The criminality of Mark Seidenberg, an agent of the Anti-Defamation League and the Southeren Poverty Law Center, is documented at TheCorruptionOfAlanKeyes.blogspot.com.

” Lake: Cody and Don Grundmann and Nightmare Nightingale are well known to ‘make it up as they go along’.”

Lake – You should have the @#$%^^ slapped out of you for your countless and endless lying about Chelene. You are the epitomy of ” making it up as you go along – i.e.; lying, Day after day and month after month you have lied about Chelene. Only Seidenberg, Robinson, and Noonan are bigger liars than you. Make sure that you never meet me in person.

Don J. Grundmann, D.C. Chairman American Independent Party, California branch of the Constitution Party

  30. C James Madison

    Mr. Seidenberg,
What is the time frame of the term for the current officers in the AIP, that is, the AIP recognized by the courts? I ask so that all California AIPers can show up and vote for the next group of officers, thus ending the debate, or at least adding new events to this on-going discussion….

  31. Don Grundmann

C James Madison – The state recognized faction of the AIP is controlled by a criminal gang comprised of Mark Seidenberg, Mark Robinson, and Ed Noonan. Their corruption is documented at TheCorruptionOfAlanKeyes.blogspot.com. They are controlled by multiple outside sources including the Republican Party, the Anti-Defamation League, and the Southern Poverty Law Center. At the fake state convention which they held last year they denied the right to vote to anyone who would oppose their corruption and criminal actions. They have re-written the by-laws of the party to maintain themselves in power permanently so there will be no new officers in their criminal gang, only a continuous reshuffling of the deck. Any AIPers who would attend any new fake convention which they have will be screened and only those who endorse their corruption and criminality will be allowed to vote.

Don J. Grundmann, D.C. Chairman American Independent Party, California branch of the Constitution Party

  32. Don Grundmann

Lake – Like I mentioned you don’t ever want to meet me in person. Chelene is a woman of honor, integrity, courage, dignity, and intelligence to which a total lying treasonous rat like you has no right to even stand near; especially since you are a walking pile of feces. Her intelligence is galaxies greater than yours will ever be. Of course that is exactly why your friends Robinson, Seidenberg, and Noonan support you since you are just as sick, rotten, corrupt to the bone and beyond, and evil as they and just as much of a traitor to the nation and an enemy of humanity.

Don J. Grundmann, D.C. Chairman American Independent Party, California branch of the Constitution Party

Did you not read my comments- Peroutka and the others didn’t just hold such beliefs, BUT THEY TRIED TO FORCE THEM ON THE CP AND TAKE IT OVER!
They didn’t want Mormons and others that didn’t fit with their ideology in the CP at all, and the ‘Pro-Life’ argument they used was only a ruse.

They wanted impose their views on the rest of the Party, Red- what part of that don’t you understand?

‘I’m no expert on Mormon theology, but clearly Mormons think they are right and orthodox Christians (of which Peroutka is a particular type) are wrong. Does this make them bigots? Of course not. It is silly and harmful to frame the issue in that way.’

Obviously you’re not that well educated about the Church- we only think that we’re the true Church of Jesus Christ, the exact church that He founded and that other churches do not follow the exact philosophy and teachings- however they’re still Christians and followers of Christ in our eyes, that’s what we really believe on that front.

Even if you or other CP’ers didn’t agree with our theology, I could still care less and we work together to restore our Constitutional Republic, regardless of our beliefs and differences.

I problem I had was that people like Peroutka, John Lofton, Reed Heustis, Angela Wittman, Scott Whiteman, and other extremists don’t want to restore our Constitutional Republic- but what to install a actual Theocracy based on their staunch Calvinist beliefs.
Such a goal & agenda is not only anti-Constitutionalist in nature, but its on the same level as Communism is in totalitarianism.
