BURNET, Texas (Dec. 15) – In his second video op ed, R. Lee Wrights says his first act as president will be to issue “A Declaration of Peace.” The libertarian writer and political activist is seeking the presidential nomination because he believes the Libertarian message in 2012 must be a loud, clear and unequivocal call to stop all war. To that end he has pledged that 10 percent of all donations to his campaign will be spent for ballot access so that the stop all war message can be heard in all 50 states.
Wrights, 53, is a lifetime member of the Libertarian Party and co-founder and editor of the free speech online magazine Liberty For All. Born in Winston-Salem, N.C., he now lives and works in Texas.
Shane Killian, a Stanley, N.C. videographer, is producing the video op-eds. The video op-eds and other video of the Wrights campaign can be viewed on the Wrights for President YouTube channel.
The campaign will also be producing video commercials that will be made available to Libertarian candidates and affiliates to help them spread the libertarian message in the 2012 election. Each spot will include a 10-second segment where candidates and affiliates can include their own name and message. They will be available free of charge. Each commercial will focus on a single topic but all the spots will emphasize a principled libertarian position.

@4 The 30 second ads are coming. The scripts are finished and we should have the audio recorded over the holidays.
The ads will be completely different then the video op-eds. We shot these on the road, under less than desirable conditions. I am pleased with the results considering the circumstances.
I like the message. I’d like to see more emphasis on the cost of war(s).
I found the backdrop too dark against his suit, and the front handclasp was frozen. There’s a post (or something) on the right edge that should be lost. Some gesticulation might work better. The cutaway of Wrights speaking didn’t work for me, though the troops one did…I’d want more of them, or none. Perhaps some different camera angles might have given this piece sufficient dynamism.
I’d expect Wrights to become the “Radical” or “home grown” alternative to Gary Johnson’s “Reform” or “Outsider” campaign.
These video op-eds seem like a pretty good approach for the Internet end of the campaign. They’re not boringly long, but they’re not minimal-content 30-second ads, either.
I do hope (and expect) that Lee’s campaign will produce some 30-second, broadcast-quality ads as well.
Professional ad men will tell you thirty seconds equal 72 words. Ten seconds = 24 words.
Mr.Wrights would WELCOME a Benjamin or two from any of you who see he is helping the cause…………
Campaigns don’t run on hope alone, CA$H is a necessity………..
agreed , Lee Wrights is far and above the other choices in my head…. and he was thr only candidate at the Nolan memorial and when he spoke he shed some tears , very human , very real , VERY LIBERTARIAN ….vote for Lee Wrights
I like the ad. The background music while you’re talking is a bit distracting, maybe cut it or bring the level down.
Also, I like the graphic at the end that brings the URL out, but I think the sparkle noise is a little cheesy.
As to the pledge to use funds for ballot access and to distribute ads to other LP campaigns and affiliates is exactly the kind of down-ticket support that I expect from our nominee. At this point, it puts Wrights ahead of his opponents in my book.
