Tiffany Briscoe campaign: ‘What started as a simple misunderstanding between campaign officials and the presidential candidate grew into a misrepresentation of the truth’

After Robert Milnes, a candidate defeated for the Boston Tea Party presidential nomination accused nominee Tiffany Briscoe of falsifying her resume, Briscoe initially responded:

I don’t know if this is genuine to the Howard Community College or, in general, to community colleges, but the fact of the matter is that all graduates with a memorable mention at their graduation are offered a title as being part of the “Board of Trustees”. This is like a honorary title, if you want. I receive no pay, I get no voting rights, nor do I attend most meetings. But I do receive a newsletter, have a parking space, and get occasional e-mails on this address provided by HCC. It’s no big thing, as you can see. And I will proceed to the removal of this from my website since it is causing so much “controversy”.

A subsequent investigation by IPR’s William Saturn confirmed that Briscoe is in fact a current student, not a graduate, prompting Boston Tea Party national chair Darryl Perry to demand additional answers from Briscoe.

Briscoe‘s campaign has responded with the following statement posted on the website of her campaign manager Pierre Creveaux:

“In the past few days, many things have been said about the Briscoe candidacy. Allegations have been raised, questions asked, and answers sought. Many had claimed this was just the work of a few individuals trying to end our road to victory, but we wish to underline that we fully understand the background and seriousness of most of these questions.

“First of all, we want to make sure that everybody understands that this presidential ticket has no relation whatsoever with Russia, Donald Trump, or the Republican Party. Our campaign receives no funding, no publicity, nor any help of the sort from them, as was theorized by some. Moreover, we want to clarify that Chairman Perry has no contact with the Putin Government in Moscow, and our foreign policy platform is only based on peaceful and commercial bases and has no spécial interest included in it.

“This has been a ridiculous claim by some, in our opinion, and raising this issue may have led to a wrong portraying of both our candidacy and the Boston Tea Party’s legitimacy as a serious polical party. But it had to be answered as it was raised on the first place.

“Now, when it comes to the education credentials of Tiffany Briscoe, the problem is more legitimate. What started as a simple misunderstanding between campaign officials and the presidential candidate grew into a misrepresentation of the truth. Tiffany Briscoe did not receive her degree yet, even though she is able to receive it by now. She will complete her degree at Howard Community College in May.

“This being said, we need to say that Tiffany Briscoe apologizes for ignoring the importance of such a major detail in her background.

“But we have work to do. Souls to free, individuals to liberate, and a society to heal. Our campaign will go back to work as fully as possible, with both Tiffany and Kimberly working on their separate fronts. Our official platform will be released by the end of the month, while our ballot access campaigns in Colorado and Vermont will hopefully soon be materialized.”.

UPDATES:

* A slightly different version of the same statement written in the first person is on Tiffany Briscoe’s campaign site.

* BTP Chair Darryl Perry replied

On January 14, I requested that Tiffany Briscoe clarify whether or not she had falsely represented herself to the Party.

Two statements have been issued by her campaign; one of which was issued by someone on her behalf, the other re-written by Ms. Briscoe. She wrote, “What started as a simple misunderstanding… grew into a misrepresentation of the truth.
“… I want to say that I apologize for ignoring the importance of such a major detail in my background, as well as to Chairman Perry, who may have been accused wrongly for my wrongdoings.”

I want to thank Ms. Briscoe for clearing up this issue. I hope that we, as a Party, can put this issue behind us and move forward with this campaign.

In Peace, Freedom, Love & Liberty,
Darryl W. Perry

I don’t think it is important to have decent & respectable candidates for the modern BTP. What’s important is that they have spirit.

    I agree.

I think the title of IPR articles should be short.

I generally try to make them short, but I don’t always succeed.

I just couldn’t think of a better title than the pull quote. A previous article already used the “Briscoe responds” line, I didn’t want to be too repetitive.

It was made worse because comment #1 pointed out that Briscoe herself did not necessarily say that so I added an extra word (campaign).

She subsequently did say exactly that, though.

If it’s important enough to you I can take “campaign” back out.

The original Boston Tea Party consisted of yobbos, ruffians and scalawags dressed up as Indians (natives).

    RE: title of article
I think the title of IPR articles should be short. I can’t read long titles in Google Reader mode. I usually don’t go further than scanning IPR titles. Sometimes I read the article (in Google Reader mode). This is a real hassle to have to go all the way to the IPR site just to find out what’s going on.

    @48,

Well, I also have the benefit of having communicated with her before (I’ve been on her show a couple of times), so the physical impressions are positively augmented by e.g. wit and charm.

And yes, she is an odd bird. Normal people don’t run for VP on third party tickets. Or any tickets for that matter.

I also didn’t find anything about it particularly sexy–she didn’t show anything I wouldn’t see in a bathing suit and she did in probably the weirdest possible way.

There’s also some pictures of her, nude but covering the bits, surrounded by pyramids or all-seeing-eyes—weird shit like that. She just seems like an odd bird.

On the off chance that Tiffany Briscoe is not elected President in 2012, I’d like to offer myself to the BTP as their candidate in 2016.

Here is my resume: I’ve been President of the Board of Trustees at the University of Northern Iowa, served as US Ambassador in Israel where I also received a Ph.D., and am currently CEO of a Fortune 500 company.

Translation for non-BTP members: I briefly attended the U. of Northern Iowa, earned a BA from an Israeli university where I was a member of a student group called the “Ambassador Club,” and am a low-level worker for a major corporation.

Seriously, you guys might have been better off with Milnes. I’ll stick to Governor Gary Johnson and the LP, thank you.

  17. NewFederalist NewFederalist January 18, 2012

    “It’s quite odd.”

    Perhaps not by BTP standards.

  18. Trent Hill Trent Hill January 18, 2012

    I just looked–it is.

She’s got pictures of her in lingerie, her nude behind a peace sign, her topless behind a bush saying she’s going to pretend it’s a marijuana plant, pictures of her flipping the bird while topless, pictures of her licking her finger while she flips the bird.

    It’s quite odd.

  19. Trent Hill Trent Hill January 18, 2012

Isnt Kimberly Johnson the one on Facebook who has mostly-nude photographs of herself posted for all to see?

  20. Hugh Mann Hugh Mann January 18, 2012

    Milnes says…….

1/18 Creveaux called me-again. I did not record the conversation & did not take notes this time. Basically he was complaining about my recent critical writings. He wanted me to stop & concentrate on the LP. He has a thick accent and is soft spoken. I think he said cooperation between he & I & the Briscoe campaign is no longer possible. I think he was hinting at offering me money. He did say that a photo of Briscoe has been posted on her website. This I checked out. Meet Tiffany and Kimberly tab. Yes there is a photo. & also a poor quality photo of Kimberly from a distance on a horse. One cannot recognize Kimberly but it doesn’t matter. There are other photos of Kimberly on the web. Many libertarians have known Kimberly for years. She is a BTP official and Vice chair of Ladies of Liberty Alliance. I must say I resent Briscoe for glomming onto Kimberly. As if to say look here is Kimberly who you know & respect. & here I am with her on MY ticket. I am basically her boss. Yet to the best of my knowledge Tiffany & Kimberly haven’t even met & Briscoe has stated that their campaigns are separate so evidently they have no plans to even meet. So there is no need for another or a better photo of Kimberly.

I must say Kimberly was not my first choice for vp. So, in view of this setback, maybe a better libertarian woman candidate can come forward as my complementary vp for fusion ticket. We can get campaign assistance and contributions & try for enough ballot access as Independents which Nader proved is possible in 2008. We could try for the LP nomination also. Then we can try for the Green party nomination which I think we would have a better chance for by then.

But this photo of Briscoe doesn’t have the same credibility as the photo of Kimberly.

I have another concern about Briscoe. Her present somewhat libertarian views-are they her genuine views? After all until recently she was a candidate in the Democratic party. I guarantee her present views would not get many votes in a democratic primary. So, was she expressing her true views then i.e democratic views, then changed to libertarian views? Or is she really libertarian & trying to win a democratic primary with libertarian views? In other words is she lying now or did she lie then? Or was she just deluded that democrats would vote for her?

I also at least thought about running in the democratic primary. However I would not have to fake my views. I have been listed on http://www.politics1.com for years as a progressive activist. Many progressives work in/through the democratic party. Very few-if any- libertarians do. I never hid my progressive views from the libertarians.

On the other hand, is this really a picture of Tiffany? Was it this woman who was the person typing at the keyboard during the debates? Did she write her response to Chair? It was a slightly revised version of what Creveaux had written in her behalf. Did she compose her website? AND, is this actually a photo of the real Tiffany Briscoe?

Are you going to continue to be associated with Briscoe/Crevaux? Contact Darryl & say you are listening to ME & boycotting Briscoe/Crevaux at least until you are satisfied who they are & what they are doing. Convenient isn’t it that your campaign is separate from Briscoe’s. That way you do not EVER MEET HER. Or Crevaux. Right now I Googled Briscoe & YOUR NAME CAME UP ASSOCIATED WITH this LIAR. “It’s not that complicated — if what the “very, very, very minor” party has going on is newsworthy, cover it; if not, don’t.”

Thanks for the condescending tip, Knapp, that’s exactly what we already do.

Judging by the amount of comments/traffic each bit on this aspect of the Briscoe controversy gets–it’s worth it.

  23. Thomas L. Knapp Thomas L. Knapp January 16, 2012

    @12,

It’s not that complicated — if what the “very, very, very minor” party has going on is newsworthy, cover it; if not, don’t.

Of course the “very, very, very minor” parties are going to put out press releases and do other things to tease you toward coverage. That’s part of their job. Whether or not you take the bait is up to you.

IMO, this whole Briscoe thing might be worth a summary article at some point (“Briscoe resigns/is removed as BTP nominee after being caught lying about her qualifications” or whatever), but probably hasn’t been deserving of ongoing, back-and-forth coverage.

  24. Darryl W. Perry Darryl W. Perry January 16, 2012

@15 – where did you read “party officials”?

The statement says “misunderstanding between campaign officials and the presidential candidate.”
Pierre Crevux is her campaign manager.

If I had to take a guess, she made a statement and instead of initially saying “this isn’t exactly true” decided to continue with the claim, until it became an issue.

Allow me to repeat myself: let’s put this issue behind us and move forward with this campaign!

@13 – at this point, I do intend to cast a ballot for the ticket of Briscoe & Barrick.

    @28,
I don’t know if that is “genuine to” Harvard.

  26. johncjackson johncjackson January 16, 2012

I started college ( 4 year University) with a group of friends and knew many others from the same area. I think we all PLANNED to graduate, but none did initially. I transferred and moved around. One friend “walked” at the graduation ceremony but left 1 class short. Another friend graduated after 8 years only to be told when he applied for a job 2 years later that the school made a mistake awarding his degree. A lot of students were within a year of graduation ( and in the case of community colleges, that means you are about halfway) and didn’t.

Though I guess the words of Redman apply to some: “I smoked with a lot of college students.
Most of ’em wasn’t graduatin and they knew it.”

NF, yes I agree, these posts from Milnes are sad. But about BTP, wouldn’t you, NewFederalist, be putting yourself in the category of people who have nothing else to do, since you commented on it twice? The latest update from Milnes….

1/16 I have read Briscoe’s response to Chair request and Chair’s reaction.

No, Darryl, Briscoe’s response is totally inadequate and you have caved for some reason.

I have started MY investigation into Briscoe & Crevaux. I am not going to stop. I would expect anyone interested in the advancement of BTP or the libertarian movement or PLAS to join me. Something is going on with Briscoe/Crevaux. Why has no one met with either of them and there is no reliable photo available? They are johnny come lately interlopers or exploiters or worse. I think they are part of a covert operation against BTP, me and PLAS. I suspect they are planning to waste the campaign time available writing a book, then publish the book if they get away with sabotaging the campaign or just disappear if they get called on sabotaging the campaign. Meanwhile I am defeated and PLAS is going nowhere.

I call on everyone who is suspicious or not satisfied with Briscoe/Crevaux and Darryl’s caving in decision to allow them to proceed with the NON-CAMPAIGN to let it be known. Complain to Darryl. Do not support Briscoe/Crevaux. Support my campaign.

I have participated in a Regional debate on Saturday. Next Saturday Jan 21 there is a Manhattan LP Convention/Presidential candidate presentation. I would like to attend. I have been told I cannot because there is no more room. I need help getting in that and getting there. I took a train & 2 busses to get to Swarthmore, PA. I would have to take a bus and then bus or train to NYC then probably a subway train to this NYC convention.

Meanwhile I’m living in an old RV in disrepair. The pipes froze yesterday. Fortunately the sun came out today & warmed things up on the exterior so they are flowing now. I got a late notice from my landlord with late fee & pending eviction notice. I’m getting numerous letters & phone calls from bill collectors. Also the circuit breaker can’t handle my electric heaters. Also I need a new propane tank. One of my 2 tanks has expired.etc. You get the picture.

  37. Trent Hill Trent Hill January 16, 2012

    Miscommunication?

  39. inDglass inDglass January 16, 2012

Having a direct statement from Briscoe definitely makes me feel more comfortable. Hopefully she knows now that she needs to keep a better eye on what Creveaux posts. She should never allow him to speak on her behalf. It could be very harmful to her campaign if she makes that mistake again.

  40. wolfefan wolfefan January 16, 2012

A misunderstanding between the candidate and party officials? So Darryl and others just misunderstood what Tiffany meant when she twice said she was a graduate of HCC? What do you think, Darryl – is it your fault for not understanding what she wrote on her website?

  41. NewFederalist NewFederalist January 16, 2012

It would probably have to be a write-in.

  42. Trent Hill Trent Hill January 16, 2012

NewFederalist–I used to try to avoid posting about the BTP, Reform Party, and Prohibition Party with any frequency because I think a general pattern emerges.

For these lesser parties, who have only a few activists and at most a couple hundred voting supporters, media at IPR represents a major victory. So they try time and time again to get more media here.

For parties of consequences (LP, CP, GP, Progressive Party of Vermont, etc)–there is no need for free media at IPR. They know it’s preaching to the choir and unlikely to reach THAT many new voters. They are too busy doing the work of a party–organizing, getting out the vote, raising money, petitioning, etc).

This statement by Pierre Creveaux makes me even more suspicious of him than I already was. I believe that he is largely responsible for the “misrepresentations of the truth” that the Briscoe campaign has had to defend.

The first quote in the article, is directly from Briscoe, according to William Saturn:

I don’t know if this is genuine to the Howard Community College or, in general, to community colleges, but the fact of the matter is that all graduates with a memorable mention at their graduation are offered a title as being part of the “Board of Trustees”.
