A CNN/ORC poll was conducted September 7-9. Among the 1022 individuals polled, Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party received 4% and Jill Stein of the Green Party received 2%.
For the first time, the network actually included two opposition party candidates – the Libertarian Party’s Gary Johnson and the Green Party’s Jill Stein. Unfortunately for the Constitution Party and their nominee, the fifth of the five major candidates, former US Congressman Virgil Goode, was not included.
Considering independent and opposition party candidates for President rarely, if ever, hit even 1% in the polls, both Johnson and Stein should consider the above recognition a sign that their hard work is paying off. With no media coverage and little funding, these two grassroots candidates are rapidly gaining in the polls as voters are slowly introduced to them. While at the same time, the two establishment candidates in the form of Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, continue to see their poll numbers fall as voters become aware of both Johnson and Stein.
Whether your political stance is on the left, the right, or the center, Johnson and Stein offer sound and credible choices to the two ‘lesser of two evil’ candidates in November. All they need now is for the national corporate news media to stop censoring and blacking-out their campaigns.
