Lots has happened since our first campaign report mid-October. To keep this report brief, we will only report events through Thanksgiving. We certainly have a lot to be thankful for!
You may have already heard two huge news items.
First, on November 4, the Texas Tribune – University of Texas poll included Kathie Glass in a gubernatorial preference poll. She is at either 5% or 6% in a three way race, depending on who the Republican nominee is. Click here to see the article.
Second, at the November 10 Austin Tea Party debate, Kathie dominated and won the straw poll with 48%. This impressive victory was reported in the media — even in the New York Times (which highlighted the second place finisher!). Click here to see the New York Times coverage.
But that is just some of what the Kathie Glass campaign accomplished since our last report.
Leading up to the November 5 election on several constitutional amendments, Kathie led in opposing Proposition 6. She coined the term “Nix Prop Six,” which a coalition of opponents led by Linda Curtis of Independent Texans adopted. The Campaign developed the “Nix Prop Six” graphic (which you can see on the podium in the picture) that was widely used throughout Texas.
On October 14, Kathie organized and participated in a press conference of opponents in downtown Houston (see picture above) that was coordinated with other press conferences around the state. As early voting started, Kathie ran this radio spot in numerous cities across the state. She was quoted in the Texas Tribune in this article, “I say nix Prop 6. It would change our Constitution to create a three-man board appointed by the governor to basically control Texas groundwater. Nobody should have that power.” And, she was interviewed for the NPR station in Commerce, Texas on Proposition Six.

On October 19, Kathie spoke at the Alamo to a crowd of about 2,000 at the Come and Take It – San Antonio rally (see picture). Kathie was honored by this thrill of a lifetime. Click here for coverage of the event.
On October 26, Kathie spoke to the Let’s Roll America Rally at the State Capitol minutes after Rick Perry’s DPS violently arrested two men legally carrying antique pistols, breaking the ribs of one.
Along the way, Kathie appeared at Tea Parties in cities around the state and met with voters in too many counties to list here. Click here for coverage of her visit to Victoria.
And demonstrating Kathie’s determination to take the 2014 to a new level, the Campaign has hired its first staff member.
We hope that you had a Merry Christmas, spending precious time with family and friends, as we did. After a brief rest in December, we are gearing up to hit the ground running in 2014.
