Members,
We are only two month into 2014 and thanks to all of your hard work and sacrifice, it’s already been a groundbreaking year! I cannot thank you enough for all of the effort you continue to put in to this vital cause!
We have many exciting things happening for the Libertarian Party of Florida in 2014 and with your help, we can shock the nation by electing many qualified Libertarians to local offices as well as seats in the state legislature and U.S. Congress.
I write you today to ask for your help in the Libertarian Party of Florida’s efforts to elect our first Libertarian Governor, Adrian Wyllie, and the first Libertarian Attorney General, Bill Wohlsifer. Both candidates have been certified by the LPF Executive Committee and have great campaign teams!
Of course, what these amazing candidates now need is financial support. We know the pockets of the Republican Party of Florida and the Democratic Party of Florida are very deep and tainted with corruption. We do not expect, nor do we want that kind of money when it comes at the price of sacrificing our core principles.
In addition, the LPF recently received an in-kind donation in the form of a television commercial for Lucas Overby. Lucas is the LPF candidate for the special election on March 11th, 2014, for Florida’s 13thCongressional District seat. The LPF would like to raise money to put out another commercial which will run in more markets and highlight the blatant media bias on ALL of our Party’s certified candidates!
Now is not the time to hold back. Our government has sent some very loud and clear messages over the past year all pointing to the fact that those currently in power will do NOTHING to protect our liberties! Come November, we do not want to be faced with another 4 years of an Attorney General who tried to blockade liberty legislation at every turn. We do not want the people to think their only choice for Governor is the already failed Republican Governor, or the already failed Republican Governor!
Every little bit helps, so please give what you can to these causes and please spread the word to others. Nobody said this fight would be easy, but you better believe it will be worth it!
If you cannot help financially, please donate some of your time. Join us in March for the calls listed below and get to know more about the state, the Libertarian Party of Florida and how to be an effective activist.

In Liberty,

Dana Moxley Cummings, Chairman

Isn’t Overby’s election coming up soon? It sounds like they’ve been running a good campaign, and I’m very curious about how they’ll do at the ballot box in a special election.
I have donated to the campaigns of Lucas Overby for Congress, Adrian Wyllie for Governor and Bill Wohlsifer for Attorney General and wish them well. I will also be voting for them.
There are people like the Chair and her friends who treat good Libertarian activists and candidates like piles of dog shit. Real Libertarians who run really good campaigns and get great vote totals and spread great messages in the process.
Case in point – Franklin Perez 34% of the vote in a State House Race or Joe Wendt 43% of the vote for Soil and Water Board (Joe ran on first defunding the board and then abolishing it).
These people are Libertarians who are going out there and spreading the LP message but meanwhile the “leadership” says they are hurting the party. Sounds like the “leadership” is a little jealous they can’t herd these cats.
mmm… I was going to be silent, but I wished she would’ve mentioned the Convention in Tampa and buying tickets for the convention, considering that’s part of the job of being Chair. If anyone wants tickets, book here:

I appreciate that the LPF is doing stuff. It’s great. However, saying that “…we can shock the nation by electing many qualified Libertarians to local offices as well as seats in the state legislature and U.S. Congress” is disingenuous. The fact of the matter is, no Libertarians, in any state, have been elected to even a state legislature seat in many years. Nobody has ever even come close for Congress or Governor. The LPF needs to tone down this rhetoric, so as to avoid disappointing everyone when they fail to get anyone elected.
There is a middle ground between “we can’t win anything” and “we’re going to win this year”. There is tons of ground in there. Libertarians should use language that is positive in nature, but is not an outright lie. Maybe something like “with your help, our candidates can spread the message of freedom throughout the state, grow our party, and bring us closer to electing Libertarians right here in Florida.”
The calls while someone informative are being run by someone who got .46% of the popular vote. And these people talk about how they are going to win elections and somehow all the other activism being done in other states is meaningless.
