Email from Joe Wendt sent to thousands of people by Florida LP. Most of them in Florida, but some like myself in other states. The April Fools Day voter registration promotion, which was started in Florida, has also been picked up by the national LP on its main facebook page and a number of other state LPs.
Would you consider changing your voter registration to Libertarian? I know what you’re thinking: Why? Why do we need a Libertarian Party? The sad fact is, America is in real trouble, and most Americans know it. The great majority of Americans agree: We are on the wrong track.
We have waged war on poverty since the 60s, and people are still poor.
We have waged war on ignorance since the 70s, and our children still cannot read, write, or think critically.
We have gallantly fought the Demon Drugs for decades, and all we have done is put more people in prison for non-violent crimes than any other nation, while funding terrorists who kill people all over the world.
I could go on, but it is depressing. We’ve spent billions on boogeymen created by the Democrats and Republicans, wasting money to pursue a political agenda that helps no one. We, the Libertarian Party, have real solutions that America longs for. Now all we need to do is to put our Libertarian solutions into effect and save America. The first step to help us help America is to encourage as many people as possible to register with the Libertarian Party of Florida (LPF). Register LPF today, and help us spread our solutions and protect your family, money, and freedom.
Sincerely,
Joseph Wendt

But of course…
Ok, mandatory snipe at Wyllie, you should’ve known better Paulie, lol
1. “Our candidates received record-breaking vote totals in 2014.”
umm… no. Other parties have performed better, with maybe the exception of Wohlsifer (don’t remember off hand).
2. “If the number of registered Libertarian voters reaches 5% of the total voters in Florida, then the LPF will be classified by law as a ‘Major Political Party.’ Major party status will truly level the playing field, and give us a real opportunity to achieve economic freedom and individual liberty in our lifetimes.”
First, in order to get to that 5%, the LPF would have to register 600000 voters. Considering Wyllie himself received slightly over 1/3 of that in the election, how on earth is that a realistic goal.
Second, if we by some miracle obtained that amount new voters, we would lose the right to require members sign the ZAP/NAP pledge in order to be members.
Third, we would have to radically change the bylaws to reflect the requirements State Law places on Major Parties.
Fourth, the LPF would be expected to file quarterly finanical reports, just like the other major parties. They can’t pull the crap they’ve been and not file a report.
These are just the practical reasons why I do not like this 5% campaign. The LPF just does not have the infrastructure, manpower, or the finances at this point. We are putting the cart before the horse, and wasting resources in the process. By the way, this is AFTER 4 years of leadership from the Liberty First Network.
Here’s another email I received about the registration drive in Florida
If anyone is interested, I am also running for LPF State Chair: https://www.facebook.com/votejoewendt
Baboon like. LOL
IDK why anyone would make a big deal about this. I am flattered for the attention, but it’s unnecessary. Regardless of how I view some in a LPF leadership as corrupt, baboon-like, and a totalitarian A**hole, I am a dedicated Libertarian. I’m a member of the LPF Membership committee, they asked me and others to write a letter, and I submitted one. I want to see the good Libertarians succeed and honor the memory of great Libertarians like Harry Browne and JWS.
All kidding aside kudos and good luck!
I can confirm, this is real. As Paul said, Wendt might talk a lot of shit, but he is a dedicated LP activist.
This does seem a bit hard to believe, given some of Mr. Wendt’s many comments on past IPR threads about this and related matters.
I have the original email if ayone doesn’t believe me.
