Independent Political Report has been advised by Jordan Willow Evans that a letter has been received from the IRS. The Outsider Media Foundation officially has its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. As a result, donations to the Foundation will now be deductible on Federal income taxes.
The Outsider Media Foundation is a New Hampshire Nonprofit Corporation. It has a Board of Directors with Whitney Bilyeu as Chair. Its articles of incorporation provide:
Outsider Media Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the “Foundation”) is a nonprofit corporation and shall be operated exclusively for educational, charitable, and social purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, or the corresponding section of any future Federal tax code. The purpose of the Foundation is to increase participation in, understanding of, and knowledge of political activity by the public and by media and other organizations, especially political activity that is less well-represented in traditional news sources. These activities will include, but not be limited to, educating the public through the production of high-quality journalism on websites and other media, including those that the Foundation will develop and maintain.
As an early donation, I will be donating ownership and control of Independent Political Report, Third Party Watch, several other URLs, and the associated websites to the Foundation. I had purchased these from Austin Cassidy last Summer. I am making sure that they will be in good hands into the future.
The Foundation will soon be seeking support for its activities. Donations would be used for such expenses as local reporters, staff members, and web support, including supporting our fellow Americans in establishing their own local, notably electronic, newspapers.

No early changes are expected. Hopefully we will be able to recruit or hire additional staff, local reporters, and the like.
