Todd Hagopian, the Treasurer of the Libertarian National Committee, announced on Sunday evening that he will not seek reelection at the 2024 Libertarian National Convention. He is finishing his first and only term.
Hagopian was initially elected to the position in 2022 as part of the “Reno Reset,” an organized effort backed by the Mises Caucus to replace the entirety of the Libertarian National Committee. As a candidate, he ran against then-incumbent Treasurer Tim Hagan, ultimately winning with 731 delegate votes to Hagan’s 206.
“After much consideration, I have decided not to run for reelection as the LNC Treasurer,” Hagopian said on his X account late Sunday evening. “Put simply, I believe that I can be more effective in other areas of the Liberty movement. If anyone is interested in running for LNC Treasurer and would like to understand the position better, please reach out to me, and I would be happy to meet with you.”

Before his term as Libertarian National Committee Treasurer, Hagopian also served as the Treasurer of the Oklahoma Libertarian Party from 2021 to 2023, with his service overlapping with his LNC role.

Jennifer nails it. She has a lovely mind. My prior comment, if it was not obvious, was in reply to Charles, particularly at end of his comment.
Watching this guy try to spin the failing numbers and talk about the how great he thought the cash position was has been nothing short of amazing. It is spin doctor work truly worthy of the liars from the Mises PAC. Anyone with a shred of business acumen or analytical skills sees right through it. I can’t imagine that he would have been able to spend two more years putting lipstick on that pig.
It’s already dead. Let it sink beneath the waves in peace. Mourn the Sunk costs if you must, but let it rest in peace.
Hagopian is one of the only competent people on this LNC. You can tell by his voting record that he has been the main voice of reason in the Mises LNC slate. Maybe he is getting pushed out because Heise was going to run someone again him, but more likely he just got tired of serving on a major political board with a bunch of rude, entitled, self-important control freaks who think they are heroes when they can barely hold a rational conversation without reeeing and probably couldn’t run a lemonade stand (looking at you, Malagon).
Is Atlas shrugging even among the Mises Caucus? Will Josh Smith’s people be able to bring enough delegates to push back against what it became and bring in some of their own people to restore some sanity? Will the Classical Liberals completely wipe out the Mises board?
Personally I’m hoping to see no side emerge as the clear victor. The LP needs balance. It needs the best of the Mises crew, (like the Hagopians), the CLC crew, and everything in between. That’s the only way it’s going to survive. A house divided is in no condition to take on the Reps and the Dems. If it doesn’t change this convention, expect the remaining donors to put the final nail in the coffin.
