As an aside, and on the topic of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., he has recently been accepting nomination recommendations for various appointment positions in the incoming Trump administration through a platform associated with his campaign site. This appears to be part of his role on the transition team, and it involves a forum with moderated discussions as part of the process. I only learned about it the other day, so it seems the window for recommendations wasn’t open for very long.
I would need to revisit the livestream to confirm, but I’m pretty sure Shanahan did the same while this was all happening.
She did not. She waited until the first round of voting ended, saw RFK was eliminated, and didn’t bother. The tellers never received a petition for her nor any indication she had become a member, and that’s also the case for the Secretary.

M.G., in addition to what was already shared, it was also mentioned in our convention livestream thread. During Sunday’s nominations, Kennedy received pushback because sustaining membership was a prerequisite for eligibility, so he had to join to participate in that first round. I would need to revisit the livestream to confirm, but I’m pretty sure Shanahan did the same while this was all happening.
I watched the nomination process on C-SPAN. There was discussion of Trump, not having joined the party, and therefore not being able to be nominated, but it was stated quite clearly that Kennedy had joined the party and was therefore able to be nominated.
I’m not sure if I recall seeing that detail listed in anything written, but C-SPAN should still have the archives of the convention.
He may have since rescinded his membership, but Kennedy had to be a member for at least that day.

The Libertarian National Committee voted on Saturday to suspend its National Secretary on charges of gross misconduct and conduct that disturbs the well-being of the Libertarian Party. An appeal of the decision is currently pending.

At least one candidate has already announced their candidacy for the Libertarian National Committee. Brittany Kosin, founder of the Medical Freedom Caucus, announced last week that she is running for an at-large position at the 2026 Libertarian National Convention.

The reports of record voting pertained to in person votes. In 2020, many states made it easier to vote by mail, which is itself much easier to game fraudulently through vote harvesting or virtual vote harvesting with family members, caretakers etc filling out ballots for elderly or otherwise incapacitated people or watching them fill them out so they “don’t make mistakes.”
In 2024, vote by mail was somewhat curtailed compared with 2020, but early in person voting set records. I didn’t watch election day coverage, so I didn’t catch whether there were claims of record voting turnout on election day or not. Even if there were, they’d likely be offset by less mail voting.
Keep in mind also that at this point it’s not an apples to apples comparison, given that votes are (shamefully) still being not only counted, but received. In at least some states, mail ballots have until this coming Tuesday (if not later) to arrive in the mail if postmarked by last Tuesday.
The final tally may be lower than 4 years ago, but by nothing like the current numbers, and is most likely due to some states doing away with “covid emergency” voting rule changes and or tightening up some rules in marginal response to the voting integrity movement.
Yes, the comments about record turnout do appear to be incorrect. Unless, of course, the American fascist party, formally known as the Republicans, stole the election by actually doing it the way elections are normally stolen-get rid of votes.
The number we really need to see is the total number of votes cast compared to those cast in the presidential election. My guess is that there was significant under voting. That is the only way that both the reports of record turnout and the lower presidential vote totals can both be true.
But that is a significant difference.

Wikipedia says Carter won Guam, but only indirectly attributes this to the Guam Election Committee’s 1980 Election Comparative Analysis Report, which indicates that Carter beat Reagan in Guam quite handedly with 55.4% to 37.3%:

While Trump clearly won nationally in 2020 – according to the legitimate official results – it is certainly true that Biden got away with pretending to be the president for almost a full term now despite not having been elected – similarly to how Arthur and Obama got away with pretending to be presidents despite being ineligible – in no small part due to Trump not doing nearly enough to challenge Biden’s coup d’etat.
So it is arguably fair to say that Guam in 2020 correctly predicted who would get to pretend to be the president. Or with a bit more stretching, that they correctly predicted the de facto president rather than the de jure president – although this risks lending credibility to the misconception that Biden has ever actually been president. But saying that Guam correctly predicted who would win the 2020 election is objectively incorrect.

I stayed up to watch the live coverage of Dixville Notch. I’ve been doing that for years, ever since they first started covering it.
You have to commend them for the care they take in going through the proper process and procedures, even though they only have six registered voters and it could be tempting to just cut corners. They are certainly the gold standard for how a precinct should run.
This likely won’t come as much of a surprise, given that he’s a two-time Libertarian Party presidential nominee, but former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson is supporting Chase Oliver. He also spoke at length with Reason magazine today about the presidential race.

Although the day has only just begun, Dixville Notch here in New Hampshire has already finalized its results. Due to the small size and unique nature of the community, the polls open at midnight and close when everyone has voted. This year, the vote ended in a 3 – 3 tie between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. The next election results we’ll likely see before the end of the day are the non-binding results from Guam.
