Libertarian Party of Wisconsin to Hold Annual Convention in Tomahawk

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin will meet in Tomahawk late next month for its annual convention. Participants will discuss challenges facing the state, review party bylaws, and strategize for future recruitment.

“Join us for an exciting gathering of liberty-minded individuals at Treehaven UW Stevens Point on April 25-27th! We are excited to bring together libertarians from across the state to unite, discuss our shared values, and shape the future of liberty in Wisconsin,” the call to convention notice reads.

Attendees will explore ideas for guiding the party and addressing key challenges facing Wisconsin. They will also help shape party policy, refine the platform, and outline the group’s overall vision for the coming year. As part of the event, the party is hosting a Lagers and Liberty fundraiser, with proceeds supporting its upcoming efforts. Additionally, the party provided a draft rewrite of its bylaws with the notice, which will presumably be voted on during the convention.

While a full agenda has not yet been released, the party is hosting a workshop on Saturday with Jenn Gray of Bright Path Strategies. Gray is an instructional designer, operations manager, and systems strategist with experience in working with liberty-aligned campaigns, activism, and communications. She will work with party members to develop new strategies for outreach and recruitment.

Readers and members of the public attending the convention, or any state convention, are invited to share their experiences in our recurring Monthly Open Thread.

“We have party members who happen to be state employees. We’re not going to turn them away because they hold a government job. That would be asinine.”

    It’s spelt “anarchist”. ;p

Now, I’ll hold off stating all (unelected) public employees are bastards, at this juncture. But does it not seem odd, that someone with a working conscience would stomach living off stolen money while simultaneously lending an air of legitimacy to the thieving operation – if you take my meaning…?

    Jon,

Ever think that perhaps a member of LPWI might actually actually be a college professor at UW Stevens Point or somewhere within the University of Wisconsin university system?

I can’t attest for Wisconsin in particular, but in Illinois, we have members who teach in public and private K-12 schools as well as public and private universities. We have party members who happen to be state employees. We’re not going to turn them away because they hold a government job. That would be asinine.

Treehaven UW Stevens Point…that appears to be a government-affiliated facility. Why would a party that supposedly challenges the omnipotent state hold a convention at a state facility?
