The Libertarian Party of San Francisco in California passed a resolution over the weekend stating that it will no longer recognize the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire. It is the second local affiliate to make such a statement since the start of June.
In a brief statement published to social media on Saturday, the San Francisco affiliate shared the text of the resolution and noted that it had been adopted unanimously. Aside from the organization’s name, the resolution is identical to one passed on June 9 by the Libertarian Party of Guadalupe County in Texas, which the San Francisco affiliate cites as inspiration.
“The Libertarian Party of San Francisco firmly believes that all affiliates—whether at the state or county level—should uphold the core principles and bylaws of the national Libertarian Party,” the statement reads. “In light of the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire’s continued support for authoritarian rhetoric and tactics, as well as their open endorsement of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, we no longer recognize them as an official affiliate of the Libertarian Party.”
This marks the second such motion by a party affiliate this month. The first came after the Libertarian National Committee declined to take up a motion to censure both the New Hampshire and Colorado state affiliates for their online conduct. That motion also included an invitation for the New Hampshire affiliate to voluntarily disaffiliate from the national organization.
