Paul did miss out, if he had run as an independent, he would have benefited from the economic mess. Would have been Ross Perot style numbers, well his 2nd run, not his first.
Still it would he would have been credited for McCains loss, and, Repub’s would then supposedly take the Libertarian wing of their party more seriously, which was supposedly the idea of masquerading as a republican.
oh well, a bunch of what if’s…I’m glad it didn’t turn out anyway, Ron Paul is a distraction.

All of us would have loved for him to have done that. Unfortunately, we must play with the cards we have been dealt. As of now, those cards are ballot access in Louisiana and Montana. If he can get high single digits in those states, it will be a victory for the freedom movement.

If these polling results are be to believed, and I think that they are, than Ron Paul is looking at between 30,000 and 40,000 votes in Montana alone, assuming that turnout is the same as in 04. If so, then it looks like Ron Paul will get either 7th or 8th place in this election, depending on how many votes Keyes gets in California.

It’s also interesting to note that he draws 4% from both McCain and Obama. However, the article seems to ignore this when it goes on to say:
“The McCain campaign
said the poll shows that

On a related note, has anyone seen the reporting that CNN has been doing in Montana? People are PISSED about the bailout here. They have filed at least two stories about this in the last two days. I think Paul is going to do very well here. My feeling is that Barr’s potential here was severely limited by what seems to be a very poorly run LP State Party.
7% is pretty impressive. I hope he does that well here in LA.
Here’s the paragraph from the AP:
“Registered voters pick
McCain by a 53-42 margin
in a heads-up battle. But
with third party candidates
included, McCain’s lead is
49 percent to 38 percent.
Paul takes 9 percent, while
other third-party candidates
each drew about 1 percent.”
I am actually a bit surprised that Paul is only polling 7-9%. Here in Kalispell, there are STILL more Ron Paul signs here than McCain and Obama signs combined.
I believe I read in a local Montana paper today that other third parties are only registering at about 1% here.
