When she says “what do you want to drink” does it sound like “chaunt tranc”?

Lol, afraid not. Although my brother’s girlfriend is from that area.

So you don’t sound like a trucker from Slidell?

Red was disappointed to meet me 4 years ago, I’m sure. Despite being from Louisiana–and from a backwoods area too–I’m sure he thought I had no southern accent (and I’ll admit, I don’t have much of one–just southern and Louisiana-specific words like “yall” or “lagniappe”).

Mine sounds most often like NYC, and people claim I have a strong one but to me it sounds like I have no accent at all 🙂

Goode’s accent is awesome. Regional accents should be encouraged, and it is a shame we are losing them due to mass media and transiency. We shouldn’t teach people to be ashamed of where they are from or attempt to hide where they are from. People should be proud of where they are from. Homogenization is both boring and destructive of distinctives.

I suspect Goode will attract some anti-mormon Conservative support.

This was a speech TO the convention, so it’s not surprising a lot of it was dealing with insider-party stuff.

    His accent is awesome, though.

Interestingly, I think he’ll be the only candidate who is a member of the “mainstream” Christian church and he’ll be the only Southerner on enough ballots to theoretically win the Presidency.

    Yikes!

I was thinking with Romney being a Mormon, Goode had a chance of getting enough religious conservative support to break the 1% barrier. I may have to reconsider. Half of this speech was inside ball–Goode talking up the party and his defeated rivals–and apologizing for his past votes (especially as he makes a blatant plea for Ron Paul supporters). With his grating accent and less than inspiring speech, I found the rest of Goode’s speech to be fairly forgettable.

Goode actually admits he turned his coat when he mentions his time as a Dem. I was wondering if he would do that.

Based on this….I think the CP has to be ready for less than 1/2 of 1% yet again.

Aren’t we already withdrawn from Iraq?
