Rick Scott under attack by Libertarians for arrest of Sheriff Nick Finch, ‘borders on treason’
The arrest of Sheriff Nick Finch in Florida over a gun control violation led to Governor Rick Scott appointing a replacement after the order to arrest Finch.
Finch reviewed the arrest of Floyd Eugene Parrish, arrested for carrying a concealed firearm without a license, a third-degree felony in Florida, and ultimated released the man. Finch did attempt to alter the records accordingly. Full story here.
Scott intervening in the case, which Second Amendment advocates say were within Finch’s powers, is highly inappropriate at best.
Now the Libertarian challenger for Governor of Florida, Adrian Wyllie, is calling out Scott’s action, making bold assertions.
The rest of the article can be read here.
Adrian Wyllie is not Florida Libertarian Party’s candidate for governernor. He is one of several candidates hoping to be selected.

Costumed clowns kidnapping people does not make something the law.
@ 5, That’s not going to stop a cop from arresting someone on that charge. If it’s on the books, they will arrest. Hell, if you look at the arrest Sheriff Finch allegedly altered unlawfully, that’s exactly what happened. If it stays on the books, they’ll keep arresting people on that stupid charge.
Knapp is correct here.
Joe,
“A law repugnant to the Constitution … is void.”
That’s the basis of American constitutional jurisprudence.
So, no, the Florida statute is not “the law.”
Although I agree with you on the 2nd Amendment, it is the law that you need a permit for concealed carry. I would like to see that law repealed because it is contrary to the 2nd Amendment, and I wished the LPF took this opportunity to push that issue instead of getting involved in a shouting match over whiting something out and making ridiculous accusations. It’s short sighted, and it can backfire.
“it is illegal in Florida to carried a concealed weapon without a permit”
No, it isn’t. Any Florida statute to the contrary is clearly null and void since it conflicts with the plain language of the second amendment.
BTW, late time I checked, it is illegal in Florida to carried a concealed weapon without a permit. I’d rather see the LPF try and repeal that law through the referendum process than playing the blame/bitch/moan game over what is essentially a matter is whiting out a police record a form of official misconduct.
IDK if Sheriff Finch is guilty or not, but it is within Rick Scott’s power to remove an elected official with cause and this case barely involves the 2nd Amendment. There is an allegation that Sheriff Finch committed Official Misconduct (when he altered a police record), those allegations need to be investigated, and I’d rather they remove an elected official (who wields alot of authority) to ensure a proper investigation. They did the same thing to Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer when he was accused of election fraud (who was later reinstated and exonerated). Rick Scott has done nothing wrong. Adrian Wyllie is jumping the gun before the FDLE has done it’s job. These accusations are ridiculous and pompous.
