Former U.S. Senator Larry Pressler, who represented South Dakota in the Senate as a Republican 1978-1996, will soon announce that he will run in 2014 for the Senate as an independent. See this story.

Pressler, the first Vietnam veteran elected to the Senate, said the U.S. should not be “in a state of constant war.”
He has hired one person to to help him launch the campaign but expects to rely primarily on college volunteers. He’s visited all 67 counties of the state in the past two months as part of the exploratory phase of his long-shot candidacy. He’s now figuring out a plan to get the 3,170 signatures he’ll need to get on the ballot.
In the announcement speech, Pressler said, he will also explain his support for gay marriage — which he recognizes will make it hard to appeal to social conservatives.
Someone needs to make Rounds accountable for his actions while governor hopefully that will be Pressler. Larry Pressler needs to expose Rounds connection to Powertech and the EB-5 scandal. For some reason NO ONE wants to investigate either situation.
Is there any possibility that he might be endorsed by the SD Libertarian Party? OR be convinced to SEEK the SDLP nomination?
