Email blast from the Petersen Campaign:
Hello friends, subscribers, and volunteers for the Petersen campaign! Thanks for being a part of our efforts to take over the government, and leave everyone alone.
I’m writing to you today because I need your help in getting on the ballot in Oklahoma. You can actually get paid to help the Libertarian Party get ballot access in one of the toughest states in the nation. Please consider a donation to the cause if you can’t come to Oklahoma directly to work on the initiative.
Not since Harry Browne ran in 2000 has a LP presidential candidate been on the ballot, so let’s make history in order to secure a more libertarian future!

Also, on a related note, I have great news from our campaign! This past weekend, our campaign secured the endorsement from one of the state chairs of the party, as well as a sizable donation! That’s tremendously good news, since the state chairs are the ones who lead their delegations at the national convention!
But that’s not all! Last week, our data analysis confirmed that our message of economic freedom and personal liberty reached over 20 million people. That’s unbelievable! Soon we’ll expect to reach a tipping point of national attention that could propel us to the nomination!
One last thing, today our campaign was featured in a prominent Middle East newspaper, highlighting my views on the Syrian refugee crisis. Have a read, and please share with your friends!

Johnson, Petersen and Kerbel all personally told me that they are favorable to the idea of doing a campus mini-tour here in January in conjunction with signature gathering. I don’t know if schedules can be made to coincide, but if they can, there could be some joint appearances or debates.
Darryl Perry mentioned that he donated to the Oklahoma petition drive. He does not expect to be able to make it down here in person.
“I don’t think POTUS candidates should spend a lot of time petitioning. Their job is to campaign (hopefully in a way that helps build the party). But, I think it would be good for any/all of them to spend some non-negligible amount of time actually doing the dirty of work of a LP POTUS campaign.”
Their job is to provide leadership, inspire and pull people in. Allowing others the opportunity to collect the signatures.
I liked all three of the main contenders for the LP presidential nomination in 2004 in Gary Nolan, Michael Badnarik, and Aaron Russo.
The list of presidential contenders at LP conventions has gone down hill since 2004, in my opinion.
I remember Nolan was pissed at Pennsylvania because he visited the commonwealth 10 times (much more than Russo or Badnarik), but the delegation split its votes between Badnarik and Russo.
Russo and Nolan both gathered signatures in Pennsylvania in 2004. Probably Badnarik too, but I’m not certain of that. There’s a picture of me petitioning with Russo out on the Internet somewhere… maybe my website (been a while since I poked around me own website).
Michael Badnarik gathered petition signatures in Texas in 2004 while he was running for the LP’s presidential nomination. He actually gathered petition signatures at an event with me.
I don’t think POTUS candidates should spend a lot of time petitioning.
No, but it would make a great photo-op to inspire activists to petition or donate.
PEACE
If any POTUS candidates collect more than a token handful of sigs on their own, I’ll consider that a mark in their favor.

Johnson is talking about doing a campus tour here in January also.
Would be great if Johnson did
Yes, but he doesn’t have the money to do a long term volunteer gig and apparently not enough confidence in his petitioning abilities, or maybe just too much going on, to come in as a paid petitioner and make a living at it. We’re talking more in terms of him coming in for one or a few days for a campus swing in January, hopefully to coincide with some of the other campaigns and if things work out well I’ll try to have them do some debates or joint appearances of some sort. He wants to do some petitioning in conjunction with that.
Has he offered to come help gather sigs himself?
