Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Pledges Multi-Party Cabinet in July FreedomFest Speech

Independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said in a speech last month that, if elected president, he would appoint a cabinet comprising members from several different political parties, including the Libertarian, Green, Republican, and Democratic parties, among others.

Kennedy made the statement while addressing attendees during FreedomFest in Nevada earlier in July. During his speech, he unveiled his “National Recovery Plan,” which outlined several pledges and priorities he would pursue if successful in his campaign. One of those priorities included the creation of a unified presidential cabinet with members pulled from several specific political parties, as well as those parties that operate outside the traditional political process.

“I pledge to appoint a cabinet comprising members of the Democratic Party, Republican Party, Libertarian Party, and people from the Green Party, and other parties—and parties outside the political process,” Kennedy said. He also voiced his support for the creation of a “cross-partisan advisory committee,” which he envisioned as being used to propose and select potential Supreme Court Justice nominees.

A full video recording of Kennedy’s speech uploaded by the campaign via YouTube is available here. Kennedy’s remarks regarding his cabinet begin around the 29-minute mark.

In addition to his cabinet, Kennedy made several other pledges during his FreedomFest speech, including investigating prosecutions of public and private officials for political motivations, pardoning or commuting the sentences of people who have been politically prosecuted, and pardoning former U.S. presidents and members of their families if any pending charges were politically motivated.
