Peace and Freedom Party Nominates Claudia De la Cruz and Karina Garcia for 2024 Presidential Ticket

The Peace and Freedom Party of California officially nominated Claudia De la Cruz and Karina Garcia as its presidential ticket over the weekend. De la Cruz had previously been announced as the party’s presumptive nominee earlier this year.

Information first shared by the Peace and Freedom Party in April indicated that De la Cruz, who is also the presidential nominee of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, became the party’s presumptive nominee following her performance in its March presidential primary. She appeared on the ballot along with Green Party candidate Jasmine Sherman and independent candidate Dr. Cornel West, winning with 47% of votes cast. The party said that its State Central Committee would meet on Saturday, August 3, to officially nominate a presidential ticket.

In an email response to Independent Political Report on Monday, Peace and Freedom Party Chair Kevin Akin confirmed the selection of Claudia De la Cruz as the party’s presidential nominee, stating that delegates overwhelmingly backed De la Cruz over independent candidate Dr. Cornel West. Akin added that the party also unanimously nominated Karina Garcia as her running mate. The party is currently in the process of assembling a slate of 54 candidates to serve as electors.

Akin also told IPR that the party elected several new members to leadership positions, including a new chair and treasurer, while re-electing its current secretary. Additionally, ten new officers were elected, with their duties to be defined at the next meeting of the party officers. Further information is expected to be released publicly by the party in the coming weeks.

My choice if they qualify by write-in here in Tex-ass. If they don’t, I’ll have to look at other write-ins.
