Trendalyn Hallesy Steps Down from Libertarian National Committee as Region 4 Alternate

Trendalyn Hallesy announced her resignation from the Libertarian National Committee over the weekend, stepping down as the Region 4 Alternate over ongoing dysfunction within the party’s national leadership.

In a September 20 message on the LNC public Business List, Hallesy wrote that she could no longer serve on the national committee, which she described as “beyond repair under existing leadership and structure.” She referenced repeated efforts to advocate for transparency and integrity, which she said were “continually undermined by a culture that tolerates chaos, ignores accountability, and prioritizes internal politics over principle.”

“I cannot in good conscience continue to participate in a body that no longer functions in service of its mission or its members,” she wrote.

Hallesy first alluded to her departure several days earlier, in a September 17 post to the LNC’s ballot thread on censuring the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire. “As my last and final act,” she wrote, “Per Meredith, I cast a yes vote. This has been an eye-opening experience. The LNC board is the most dysfunctional group I have had the misfortune to be a part of. I wish you all luck.”

While her September 17 post gave the impression she was stepping down, Hallesy did not follow through with a formal resignation until days later. A member of the Libertarian Party of California’s Executive Committee told Independent Political Report the following afternoon she had not notified members of her resignation prior to making her response.

Hallesy has served as the Region 4 Alternate since February, when she was appointed to replace Adrian F Malagon. She is a member of the Libertarian Party of California and currently serves as its treasurer.
