The Libertarian Party of Michigan has shifted its state leadership following the resignation of Justin Miramonti as chair, with former Vice Chair Tim Teagan elevated to the role this month. Scott Boman will serve as the party’s new first vice chair.
In its December newsletter released this week, the party announced the leadership changes but did not specify when or why Miramonti stepped down. Meeting minutes show Miramonti was present as chair at Executive Committee meetings as recently as December 9. He was originally elected to the role at the party’s state convention in July.
In its article, the party praised Teagan for his background “in militia and activism” and said he has high hopes for the state organization heading into the 2026 election cycle. “I consider myself a neutral Libertarian who only wishes to put the party and its principles first,” Teagan stated.
Also shifting positions is Scott Boman, previously the party’s second vice chair, who will now assume the first vice chair seat, which includes the role of affiliate director. The party said delegates will fill the now-vacant second vice chair position at its upcoming 2026 convention. That position also carries responsibility for serving as the party’s political director, assisting candidates with ballot access requirements and campaign compliance.
At the same convention, the party is expected to nominate a candidate for the 35th State Senate District special election and select delegates to the 2026 Libertarian National Convention. The convention is scheduled to take place January 17 at the H Hotel in Midland.
