Libertarian National Committee Chair Evan McMahon has announced his appointments to the organization’s Information Services and Candidate Support Committees, naming 11 members between the two subcommittees.
McMahon published his appointments in a July 23 thread on the LNC’s public Business List, naming LNC members Keith Thompson and Kelly Nguyen to the Information Services Committee. He said he then consulted with the two in determining four more members from outside the national committee, selecting Casey Crowe of South Carolina, Sam Bohler of Alabama, Rich Tamasso of New Hampshire, and Alexa Maffei of Illinois. McMahon appointed Crowe to serve as the committee’s temporary chair.
The Information Services Committee includes two LNC members and up to five individuals from outside national leadership, with the chair responsible for making its appointments, meaning McMahon could still make another appointment. The committee handles technology-related work for the national party, including reviewing vendors, tracking IT projects, and helping set data-sharing practices between national headquarters and state affiliates.
McMahon also filled out the rest of the Candidate Support Committee after the LNC elected Region 7 Representative Olivia Hayse and Region 2 Representative Joe Hannoush to its LNC member seats earlier this month. McMahon said he worked with Hayse and Hannoush in making the other five appointments, all of which had to consist of members from outside the national committee.
Joining the committee will be Sean Kennedy of Massachusetts, Melissa Couture of South Carolina, Jake Leonard of Illinois, John-Henry Liberty of Texas, and Tyler Bargenquast of Louisiana. McMahon also appointed Hayse to serve as the committee’s temporary chair.
The Candidate Support Committee reviews requests from Libertarian candidates seeking financial support from the national party and recommends whether the LNC should approve them. It also reviews candidate-support standards early in each LNC term and helps develop training materials when resources are available.
The terms of all new appointees will end at the same time as those of the current Libertarian National Committee, meaning they will serve through the next national convention or until their successors are chosen.
