The Libertarian Party has launched a new weekly newsletter called The Spark, which it says will feature news from the national party and state affiliates combined with candidate updates and commentary on libertarian issues.
The party distributed a preview of the newsletter to supporters last Thursday, October 15, detailing its initial plans for the publication. According to the email, the newsletter will be delivered to subscribers each Thursday afternoon and include information they might otherwise have to search across multiple party websites and social media accounts to locate.
“Look for updates from our Chair, libertarian thought leadership, upcoming events, news about the Party, accomplishments worth celebrating, candidate and election progress to follow, media appearances, opportunities to get involved, and lots more,” the party wrote. “We’ll include links so you can explore the stories that interest you, hear directly from the people doing the work, and find your next step.”
The party said it wants the newsletter to reflect the “ideas, effort, and people” responsible for moving the Libertarian Party forward. To that end, it intends to solicit input from state and local affiliates, party committees, and others involved in libertarian activities across the country.
“If there’s something others should know about, help us bring it into view,” the party wrote.
It also put out a request for volunteers to assist its communications staff with both The Spark and other upcoming projects. In particular, the party is looking for people who can assist with producing and organizing the newsletter, as well as those with experience in video creation and editing for social media and live shows the party plans to produce.
