Dave Brownlow, the director of Believers Against The War and senatorial candidate of the Constitution Party of Oregon, is now polling 8% against two other challengers. IPR had previously noted that Brownlow was polling 5%, but that poll was conducted before John Frohnmayer dropped out of the race. Frohnmayer was polling 10% as an independent, and some had speculated that Brownlow’s number would go down after Frohnmayer’s withdrawal.

Trent is right that while voters really like a third party candidate, they often chicken out and vote for the “lesser of evils” at the last minute.
Brownlow is probably topping out, actually. Conservatives dont like Smith–but they’ll likely swing back to him more towards election day. 3-4% is the lowest he’ll get, though.
The polling numbers showed abortion to be a significant factor in conservative voters’ choices. The Republican Smith has 70% of the “pro-life” vote. Brownlow is also strictly “pro-life,” but in the true sense of the word: He doesn’t support killing Iraqis any more than killing fetuses. This could attract strict pro-life conservatives as well as anti-war liberals who aren’t obsessed with being “pro-choice,” and give him a large percentage of the vote from both sides. Oregon is a very independent-thinking state. Brownlow has a lot of potential if he can get more attention.
I suspect it’ll dip again,as low as 4%.
That’s incredibly high for a CP candidate. I hope to see it hold or go higher.
No kidding.
Brownlow pulling these kinds of numbers has to scare the hell out of Gordon Smith.
Dear Eternaverse:
I am aware that there is some times ‘drift’ between the CP and the LP but your first response to a CP posting in all capitals looks like some thing else.
In stead of drift, it looks like a jump! May be in celebration of the up coming Olympics?
Youthful enthusiasm for the BTP?
Too much sugar from the cafeteria lunch? A dare from the other Middle School students in the IT lab?
