The Libertarian Party of Nevada made history last Friday with several major announcements. At a press conference hosted in the Libertarian Party’s Las Vegas office, Nevada Chairman Brett Pojunis announced a new Libertarian in the state legislature: Assemblyman John Moore, representing District 8, officially changed his party affiliation to the Libertarian Party. Moore is the first Libertarian in state office since New Hampshire in the 1990s.

Good point, Austin. But I don’t think a lot of people will notice the error, so I don’t think we should focus on it. Everyone makes mistakes, and they are justifiably excited about having a big L state legislator, even if it is not as unprecedented as they are making it out to be.
How hard is it to know? You just do a search online. If you’re going to make announcements about “making history” — you ought to just double check the facts. Am I crazy?
I mean, how will the Nevada LP and Assemblyman Moore feel if another state elects an LP member to their legislature and that party claims to have the one and only Libertarian legislator in the country?
Just for the record, in case anyone with the Nevada LP reads this — there have been 11 Libertarian state legislators in the party’s history, Mr. Moore is now the 12th.
Here’s a list, includes states and dates:

==This is a fantastic development for the LP in Nevada and nationally, but why engage in all this exaggeration?==
Hype is half the battle or maybe they didn’t know?
I am serious psyched for their successes.
From the final video: “John is the first Libertarian state legislator in any state since 1992, in New Hampshire…”
No. That is not correct. In 2011, controversial Rhode Island state representative Daniel Gordon switched from the Republican to Libertarian Party. He served a year and change in the RI state assembly, leaving office in January 2013.
“…and he is going to be re-elected, I believe, in District 8 on the Libertarian ticket. Which will be the first time since the early 1980s that a Libertarian state legislator wins an election — which will revolutionize the party.”
No. That is NOT correct. In 1992, Don Gorman ran for and won his New Hampshire state house seat as a Libertarian, and was re-elected in 1994.
This is a fantastic development for the LP in Nevada and nationally, but why engage in all this exaggeration?
