The Reform Party National Committee has reelected Nicholas Hensley to a second term as National Committee Chair. Hensley was first elected to the position in 2020 after serving six years as its National Secretary.
In a press release on Wednesday, the Reform Party’s Communications Committee stated that Hensley was reelected “by unanimous consent,” with his next term to officially begin in 2025 and continue through 2029. The Committee noted several accomplishments achieved under Hensley’s first term, including the Reform Party gaining eight elected and appointed public officials nationwide, filing eight years of backdated reports with the Federal Election Commission, and fully staffing all its standing committees while also establishing new ones. Additionally, it stated that the party has “modernized its bylaws and platform” under Hensley and held an in-person meeting for the first time in over a decade.
The Committee also highlighted the results of the 2024 presidential election in its statement, noting that the Reform Party’s endorsed candidate, independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr., achieved the highest vote count for a Reform-supported presidential candidate since Ross Perot’s original campaigns.
Notably, the Reform Party initially endorsed Kennedy for president and continued to support him even after he suspended his campaign to back Republican candidate Donald Trump. The party had intended to place Kennedy on the ballot in Florida, where it regained ballot access earlier this year. However, after suspending his campaign, Kennedy requested the Secretary of State’s office remove his name from the ballot.
“the Reform Party’s endorsed candidate, independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr., achieved the highest vote count for a Reform-supported presidential candidate since Ross Perot’s original campaigns […] even after he suspended his campaign to back Republican candidate Donald Trump.”
That’s kind of sad, but kudos for sticking with Kennedy in spite of Kennedy. Now if only Mr. Hensley would get that dangerous notion about cryptocurrency being viable long-term investment out of his head, and the party would disavow its pro-abortion and anti-marriage track-record, then they might start seriously competing with the Constitution, American Independent, Liberal and Prohibition Parties to absorb some of this cycle’s LP and GOP refugees.
