Libertarian Party of Rhode Island to Hold Annual Convention in Warwick

The Libertarian Party of Rhode Island will meet in Warwick this coming Sunday for its annual convention, where members will elect new leadership and choose delegates for the national party’s 2026 convention.

According to details shared by the state party, the convention will begin at noon local time at the Shannon View Inn in Warwick. Both full members and associate members of the Libertarian Party of Rhode Island are invited to attend the business portion of the event at no cost. However, those interested in attending the full convention, including lunch and the guest speaker portion, must pay a registration fee.

During the business meeting, the party will hold elections for several officer positions, including chair, secretary, and three at-large seats on the executive committee. Members will also consider proposed changes to the party’s bylaws. Nominations will be taken from the floor, and no advance application process is required. In addition, the party will select delegates and alternates to attend the 2026 Libertarian National Convention, which is set to take place in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Nominees must be full members of the Rhode Island party in good standing.

The convention will feature Thomas Eddlem as its guest speaker. Eddlem is a freelance contributor to the Libertarian Institute and works professionally as an economic and data scientist. He currently serves as the Political Director for the Unified Libertarians of Massachusetts.

Seebeck – I would admit that I don’t know much about LPRI, but if they’ve always held conventions in April or May, I guess I would understand why they’re selecting NatCon delegates and alternates now rather than at the last minute.

Genuine question: Why is LPRI doing natCon delegates a year early? Nothing wrong with it; it just seems odd.
