Independent Lincoln Chafee in the lead in Rhode Island

Democrat Frank Caprio has tanked in the Rhode Island gubernatorial race. It is now a heat between Republican John Robitaille and Independent Lincoln Chafee. Chafee leads with 35.8% to 34% with 90% reporting.

    The only other apparent non-D/R line statewide win of the night appears to be Murkowski as a write-in in Alaska, although the towns out in the bush will take a long time to count.

    ME, Cutler fell back as the non-coastal counties started coming in.

    Crist and Tancredo did not come close, although both did come in second.

    However, all the above, including Chafee, had just fairly recently quit their D/R party and some of them may go back where they came from.
