Revolutionary Communist Party comments on Beijing Olympics

The Marxist-Leninist-Maoist Revolutionary Communist Party comments in detail on the upcoming Beijing Olympics in the latest issue of its newsletter “Revolution“, writing in part:

“The 2008 Summer Olympics are about to begin in Beijing, China, running from August 8 to August 24. The Olympics are full of great athletic performances, but they are also highly politicized events. While people are going to be inspired by exciting contests and tremendous achievements, there will be a dose of politics and ideology that is delivered with it all, sometimes subtle and sometimes overt. At different times, and in different ways, the relationship and rivalry between world powers gets expressed through the Olympic games. And in the Beijing Olympics, the complex relationship between rising China and the United States as the world’s sole superpower is setting the stage for how this is playing out, on the field and off.

“Rising China is not a socialist country. It was a socialist country from 1949 to 1976, and during that period it was not part of the global circuits of capitalist exploitation. But today it is a capitalist country, profoundly enmeshed in and in some ways pivotal to global capitalism. And the Beijing Olympics coincide with, and mark a significant dimension to, China’s entree into the ranks of world powers. Even the fact that China is hosting the Olympics reflects global geopolitics. It reinforces China’s rising status in the world. It is hard to imagine that the International Olympic Committee would have approved holding the Olympics in Beijing without the approval of the rulers of the United States.”

    “They have NEVER run candidates.”

Considering they’re waiting around for a proletariat revolution, running candidates would be rather pointless — a waste of money and effort.

However, I’d say that a party doesn’t necessarily have to run candidates to be counted as a “political party”.

The problem with the RCP is that they aren’t really a political party, but more of a debating society. They have NEVER run candidates.

Actually, they won’t even debate you, just yell their epithets.

Be forewarned, though. If you ever help to organize an anti-war rally, they will show up. They and their sister RCYB (Revolutionary Communist Youth Brigade) will show up with bull horns, drowning out any speakers. They like to burn the flag, too. *THAT* always seems to make the evening news.

    PEACE
    Steve

If the American Nazi Party DID press releases, Silvarticus would probably be writing them.

  4. Trent Hill August 6, 2008

    Sivarticus,

If the American Nazi Party DID press releases, we’d post them. This is a site about ALL third-parties and independent candidates. If you want want that is exclusive, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

Cool, another Marxist sect that pines for the days when Mao was in fierce competition with Stalin and Hitler for the highest body count. That’s when they were a “true” socialist state. Seriously, why is this garbage even on here? Might as well post press releases from the American Nazi Party too.

The problem with historical determinism is that is ahistorical.

Thinking the inherent barbarism and immiseration of capitalism, brought to a head by one of the periodic collapses of the ponzi scheme, would lead to people “seeing” the ills of capitalism, and under the kindly guidance of the vanguard of the proletariat, seek out some form of socialism.

When in fact, had this been true, the “Great Depression” would have lead to the world revo. Alas, keynesianism copped some of socialisms strategies to prop up capitalism.

Isn’t Comrade Chairman Bob Avakian lounging on the Riviera in revolutionary exile?

If it’s not dull and verbose, it’s not Marxism-Leninism!

This has always made me laugh. Marxist ideology has always asserted that communism is inevitable, but every communist country except North Korea has caved and allowed market reforms; in the case of China or Vietnam, significant reforms. And look where communism got North Korea…

The Party of Socialism and Liberation’s position on the IMF, World Bank, and WTO is preferable to that of Bob Barr. And the Revolutionary Communist Party’s position on China is closer to Ron Paul’s than Chuck Baldwin’s.

    Gregg,

The headlines of their “newspapers” often read like thesis titles….REALLY BORING thesis titles.

  10. Trent Hill August 5, 2008

“What is factually wrong here, Trent, or are you just being flippant?”

    Flippant. Guilty as charged.

The RCP and the CP-ML and Worker’s Vanguard and Spartacus League etc have always bored me to tears. The CWP too.

Headlines in their “newspapers” like “Internationalist vanguard of the working class smash the capitalist obsession with sports in northern Waziristan and America’s role in their oppression and dissolution of the People’s Committees for freedom in sport”…by the time I was finished reading the headline I knew they were bonkers. Saves hours of reading.

“it’s corporatist, a fascist state exploiting capitalist methods of wealth production while denying individuals any freedom, economic or personal.”

This is what the Commies mean by “capitalist,” of course.

China is an increasingly capitalist country. The U.S. is one becoming less and less capitalist.

  13. G.E. August 5, 2008

To be clear: I’m only talking about what’s quoted here. I didn’t read the rest. There’s no real point to what they’re saying here, other than stating some facts in the face of “jingoistic hypocrisy” from other corners of the third-party world.

  14. G.E. August 5, 2008

The Communists can say “the sky is blue,” and they will be right.

The Communists and Ron Paul are on the same page here.

What is factually wrong here, Trent, or are you just being flippant?

  15. Fred Church Ortiz August 5, 2008

    Olympian marxism.

  16. Trent Hill August 5, 2008

    GE agrees with Communists.

    Awesome.

  17. G.E. August 5, 2008

    Much better release than Baldwin’s.
