Delegation Chair’s Manual, 2010
I updated the Delegation Chair’s Manual on July 27 using June 30 membership data. That’s a useful service since affiliate delegate allocations for the 2010 Convention in St. Louis over Memorial Day is based on affiliate membership and votes for Bob Barr in 2008.

The October 31, 2010 membership numbers will determine official delegate allocations.
Of course, it’s not necessary to be a state chair to read the document. It contains information about delegates, delegations and procedures we’ll use in the 2010 Convention. These are not procedures that the LNC has dictated, but are ones we ourselves as members have codified in our Bylaws and Convention Rules.
Convention Speakers
Admiral Colley who is heading up the 2010 planning as chair of the LNC’s Convention Oversight Committee asked me to find speakers for the 2010 convention since I had taken some initiative on my own to line up a few speakers. So far, we have secured:
· David Nolan, one of the Party’s 1971 co-founders
· Gary Nolan, syndicated radio talk show host and 2004 LP presidential candidate
· Mary Ruwart, noted author and 2008 presidential candidate
· Dr. James W. Lark, III, former chair slated to address the Torch Club. ($1k donors)
· Jeff Davis, a radio personality who produces “Just a Thought” commentaries. http://www.thethoughtzone.com/PAGE1.html
This list is not yet complete. There are other speakers I’m chasing down. Jeff Davis, by the way, is a descendant of the President of the Confederate States, Jefferson Davis.
I’ll be welcoming delegates to St. Louis before the opening gavel drops. The Gateway City is my home town, and I’ll point out highlights of the fair city. In addition, I’ll be able put to rest renegade local urban legends (no, there is not some guy who lives across from the brewery and has Budweiser directly piped into his house) and to recommend where is the best place to buy underwear to clothe the naked bodies in the “Meeting of the Rivers” sculpture across from Union Station.

It’s an abomination what PrezBo (that’s what Libertarian Neal Boortz calls him) is doing to the economy and the lives of our children and grandchildren. He doesn’t understand his government policies deplete the economy and capital rather than invigorate them. He assumes American businesses will always be around for government to plunder. Terrible miscalculation, and the results will not be pretty
Doing more than the LNC
I had a chance to think about the fact that virtually everyone on the LNC does more than just lord over the LNC domain. Here’s a list I was able to produce right off the top. Of course it’s incomplete. But it begins to show how the LNC is largely comprised of high-energy, high-performance individuals:
· Admiral Colley is heading up the 2010 convention work
· Chairman Bill Redpath actually collects petition signatures, and serves on the Fair Vote board
· Dr. James Lark always contributes a ton of money, leads the campus organizing, serves on other boards and more
· Sully is getting convention speakers, preparing convention ballots and will produce convention materials
· Mary Ruwart writes books and serves on other boards
· Michael Jingozian is developing his marketing strategy initiative
· Aaron Starr is managing the financials and spearheading fundraising
· Pat Dixon serves as an elected Libertarian
· Dan Karlan heads up the Bylaws Committee
· Alicia Mattson is developing an e-voting application
· Tony Ryan is a speaker with LEAP
· Jake Porter helps Libertarian candidates
Thanks to all, in and out of the LNC, who grab a rope and help pull in initiatives for Liberty.

Anheuser-Busch was acquired by InBev, a European company, recently. Their future participation in sponsoring the uniparty beauty pageants is, at this point, speculative.
As far as their products go, A-B stopped making beer when Prohibition went into force; with their acquisition by InBev, rumor has it that they may start again.
Because Anhueser-Busch sponsors the Presidential debates, I would rather take part in an educational protest at their brewery.
I certainly would not drink their horse piss. And I don’t care to see the horse it comes from.

I guess I’m used to the Fort Collins brewery where their team was grazing in site of both brewery and I-25…
Of course, I haven’t been to St. Louis as a visitor in 30 years, either (passing through in 2005 doesn’t count).

I don’t recall whether or not they keep any of the Clydesdales at the brewery. Their “official stable” is at Grant’s Farm.
Admission to Grant’s Farm is also free, except for parking. Unfortunately, it’s about an hour and 40 minutes away from the convention hotel by mass transit, including nearly two miles of walking, and it CAN be an all-day activity by itself (free beer there, too, by the way — once again, with a limit). It’s a fun activity, but I’d recommend that if people want to do it, we get a group trip up and see if we can find some local volunteers to do the driving.

It’s kind of an inherited thing since I’m the second-to-last in my particular line. Plus a huge rich family background that predates me is quite fascinating.
Concordia is Missouri Synod Lutheran. My grandfather did his seminary work before his ordination.

It would be hard to discount the Busch brewery tour — it’s free, and yes, “free samples” are included (two drink limit, I think). My recollection is also that it doesn’t have to be scheduled in advance, but I’ll be checking on that (and on tours of the Schlafly brewery as well).
There are a number of casinos, on both sides of the river.

Thought: I bet one or more of the casinos would be thrilled to throw a “coupon book” (free chips, free buffet, etc.) into the convention package mix. Maybe even pay a fee for the exposure.

Im getting into it to . In case you dont know , you probably do , the Mormons have some of the best geneological research centers anywhere . its one og their things.
we have a huge research center here in Vegas and you dont have to be LDS to use it.

Flood, make sure the web site includes mass transit info, nearby dog parks and grocery stores, a link to a Google Map of downtown, nearby restaurants and entertainment, and the convention committee ought to see about a discounted offsite activity like a Busch brewery tour, or the Riverboat casino.
Me, I definitely plan to be spending some time over at Concordia Seminary doing some genealogical research while in town.
My electric cattle prod will be all the charge you need, babe.

seriously though Hawkridge works HARD! and she’s super nice even in her opposition t things . shes a professional and a sweetheart at that.
On that note I should also mention that Stewart Flood, as well as Bob Barr (while he was regional rep, before he was a presidential contender) have been proactive in visiting all the states in their region, something I did not see regional reps in the area do going back to at least 1998 and probably well before that.
This has nothing to do with my views on the party in-fighting, as I line up with the Radical, Grassroots, Anarchist and Transparency Caucuses, and supported Kubby and Ruwart in Denver, but I feel obligated to give credit where it is due.
Not only do I agree with everything Michael Wilson said, but also, LNC Region 7 Representative Rachel Hawkridge works nearly full time for the party, without any pay.
She is also working to bring more transparancy to the LNC, is the first regional representative in YEARS to visit some of the states she represents, and has donated a considerable amount of her own “treasure” to the LPWA.
I believe every member of the LNC deserves recognition for their personal efforts in the cause of Liberty.

There will be shortly. It is one of the tasks of the convention committee, and it is being put together.
To define shortly: most likely a few weeks. I was just given the task a few days before the LNC meeting and I’ve got a couple of things to clear off of my project list before I sort through the information and photos that I took in St Louis and build it.
I do have a great shot — accidental of course — of the arch taken while driving out of town. I’ll be using it as part of the background theme.
