Email from Scott Williamson:
Scott Williamson, New Path candidate for the LNC Region 4 seat, announced today that New Path has gained additional candidates. Brad Ploeger of Georgia is now running for Regional 4 Alternate Representative. Charles Wilhoit is now running for At-Large candidate. Scott said of the changes “Charles’ experience and wisdom will better serve our Libertarian Party as an ever present voting member than as an Alternate. I am looking forward to serving with him on the LNC. The vacancy of Alternate left by Charles lead me to look for a suitable replacement. Brad’s energy, commitment and activism made him the logical choice. I know that Brad and I will work closely together to grow our party and help lead our country on a new path to liberty.”
Their statements follow:
Statement from Charles:
I am very pleased and extremely happy that I have been “properly relieved” as LNC Region Four Alternate Rep. by Brad Ploeger of Georgia so that I can be a candidate for LNC Representative At Large. This will give me an even greater opportunity to support Scott Williamson and Brad Ploeger and the other New Path candidates for the LNC. I mark this as a Banner Day in LNC Region Four. Full Speed Ahead!
Charles Wilhoit
Statement from Brad Ploeger
“Why I’m Running with Scott Williamson”
These are challenging times for our party. We are threatened by membership losses, concerned about financial pressures, dissatisfied with how our party operates, and dismayed by the seeming focus on internal issues instead of our country’s future. Some say that the best can be found when a group faces a crisis or serious problem. But today, unfortunately, we have also found that the leadership of our party is not up to the challenge. The Libertarian Party has a lot of work to do, and doesn’t have the right leaders to do it.
It would be easy to become disheartened and find other outlets for my activism. But you know something? There are a lot of reasons for optimism, too. Our Party stands for the ideals that made this country great. We can and must defend those ideas.
Every Libertarian has a sense of fair play, a desire for quality leadership and a deep love for the Constitution. These are what have kept us together despite all the problems that seem to have descended on us lately. The kind of leaders we need would build on our strengths, rather than add to our troubles.
I’m running to be Scott Williamson’s Alternate because I want to be one of those leaders who call on the spirit that is common in all of us, and use it to restore our party for the benefit of our members and for the citizens of our great country.
We need leadership today to address the vital issues facing the party, issues like declining membership, financial pressures, weakened affiliates and loss of activists. On all these issues, our leaders have let us down, and we badly need new hands on the tiller.
Our party is at a crossroads! We can do better, and we have to. I’m not going to be about labels, and “us against them”. I’m about applying our great principles for the good of the Libertarian Party.
That’s who I am, and that’s why I’m running to be Scott Williamson’s Alternate to the Libertarian National Committee.
Brad Ploeger is a founding member of the Libertarian Party of Atlanta and serves as their Vice Chair of Communication. Brad is also a member of the Committee on Constitution, Bylaws and Rules, Libertarian Party of Georgia, 2010 District Representative, Executive Committee, Libertarian Party of Georgia, and the 2010 Libertarian Nominee, Georgia State House District 59

Congratulations to Charles Wilhoit for assuming this burden for the good of our party. Ditto also to Brad Ploeger and his message “We need leadership today to address the vital issues facing the party, issues like declining membership, financial pressures, weakened affiliates and loss of activists. On all these issues, our leaders have let us down, and we badly need new hands on the tiller.”
@1 The New Path group already supplies a downloadable candidate web page template.

The New Path group already supplies several downloadable trifolds. See

for several file formats, including trifolds with blank sections for your group and local issues information.
Running a whole slate seems like a good move for the New Path people and sets them apart from the other campaigns for Chair or other officer positions. That, combined with the detailed plans, sets them apart from all the other campaigns, based on what I’ve seen so far.
Closest to having a plan otherwise looks like Myers, with his plan to facilitate local campaigns through website templates and whatnot.
Hancock’s plan seems to boil down to getting out of activists’ way.
Hinkle sounds like he would run the LNC like he ran California, and has the support of California people who liked the way he did it.
Root’s plan sounds like getting on TV a lot and letting Mark Rutherford actually chair the LNC.
