Even though Obama proposes job-destroying tax hikes on employers who emit carbon dioxide, the Institute for Liberty reports his $170 million inauguration had a total “carbon footprint” of 575,000,000 pounds.
According to the EPA, the average American coal-fired power plant produces 10,237,509,070 pounds of CO2 per year. That’s 112,191,880 pounds of CO2 every four days.
Compare that 112,191,880 pounds of CO2 produced by a job-and-energy producing power plant in four days with the 575,000,000 pounds of CO2 produced by Obama, who promised on the campaign trail to “bankrupt the coal industry,” and his supporters.
Yep, Barack Obama’s $170 million inaugural gala was five times “dirtier” than one of the coal-powered energy plants he promises to bankrupt.
And unsurprisingly, Obama hasn’t offered to pay his own proposed taxes on his “pollution,” which would cost small businesses an average of $7,700.00 per employee or drop his support for so-called cap-and-trade legislation, which imposes crippling tax hikes on any job-producing activity that also emits carbon dioxide. The proposed law not only eliminates thousands of needed jobs, but drastically hikes the price of home heat, gasoline and energy — hitting the poor and fixed-income elderly hardest.
Rather than proposing punitive “cap-and-trade” taxes on job producers, which kill the economy and eliminate thousands of jobs, President Obama should realize environmental advocates and social pressure are the most effective means of changing public behavior, and free markets and property rights stimulate the technological innovations and behavioral changes required to protect our environment and ecosystems
A lot of the footprint was created by supporting such a large group of people who would have normally been in other locations. So this sounds similar to a carbon trade system.
