Reichel wins Green Primary in IL-5

Our friends over at GreenPartyWatch are reporting that Matt Reichel has won the Green Party primary in Illinois’ Congressional 5th District, by a mere 11 votes, with 99% reporting. However, Deb Gordils is still within striking distance with a couple dozen votes left to count.

According to the Chicago Tribune, with 571 of 578 precincts reporting, the Green Party totals are:

Matt Reichel: 165 (34%)
Deb Gordils: 154 (32%)
Mark Frederickson: 69 (14%)
Alan Augustson: 62 (13%)
Simon Ribeiro: 36 (7%)

While statistically one could state that Reichel has likely won this primary, a dozen votes from 7 remaining precincts could put Gordils in front. No word on when the final vote tally will be complete.

“Every vote counts!” Yeah, for the honor of getting 0.5% in the general. Yay!

I realize it’s only a primary, but not even a green vote per precinct? That’s pretty sad.
