Libertarian Party of California’s 2011 Convention

Final touches are being put on plans for this year’s California Libertarian convention. We have a special location planned–Harvey’s and Harrah’s Resorts and Casinos in Stateline, Nevada, right next to South Lake Tahoe.  There should still be snow in the mountains, and the scenery there will be breathtaking!

Libertarian Party of Nevada 2011 Convention Minutes draft

Attached is the convention minutes draft of the controversial and contentious Libertarian Party of Nevada 2011 Convention, courtesy of Debra Dedmon.

There were 60 delegates credentialed. The votes for officer positions:

Chair Joe Silvestri won 27-26 over Sandra Darby.

Wayne Root won Vice Chair over David Colborne, 30-25.

Kris McKinster won Secretary over David Colborne, 28-25

Mike McAuliffe won Treasurer over NOTA, 33-17

Las Vegas will host its first presidential convention when the Libertarian Party meets here in 2012. Convening at the Red Rock Resort May 4-6, one of the country’s largest third parties will pick its nominee for the White House.

David Nolan proposes resolution for LNC consideration

As reported by George Phillies in IPR comments, Libertarian Party co-founder David Nolan has proposed the following resolution to be considered at this weekend’s LNC meeting:

“WHEREAS the Libertarian Party can grow only by attracting new members and supporters, and

“WHEREAS libertarianism is a unique political philosophy, distinct from both contemporary liberalism and contemporary conservatism, and

“WHEREAS we need the support of both former liberals and former conservatives who have come to realize that libertarianism and the Libertarian Party offer a better path to achieving a just, humane and prosperous society

“The Libertarian National Committee hereby resolves that our party, its representatives and staff should always state clearly and unequivocally that we welcome individuals from across the political spectrum who now accept the libertarian principles of self-ownership and non-aggression.”… Read more ...
